Hi there,

Anybody take Avemar? I am confused because of conflicting studies because it has a phytoestrogen component and I am ER+.

My naturopath wants me to go on this but I am a little wary.

Hi Annie. I don't know much about Avemar, but I do know one lady who is end stage who takes it to help with the wasting (cachexia) associated with cancer. Are you suffering from loss of appetite or are you overly thin? Sorry, I have no idea about it's estrogenic effects. Hopefully someone more learned about phytoestrogens will chime in.

I went to an integrative doctor at UCLA who first recommended the Avemar supplement to me.  I have ulcerative colitis and triple negative bc so it was a good and safe recommendation.  I later switched to Ave Ultra.  I used it for two years and then weaned off of it.

It was part of my protocol which included many life style changes and supplements.  I always refer to the Edge CAM at nosurrender for recommendations to add or subtract then run it by my doctor and do my own research with peer review literature and other evidence based studies.

You might want to read up on modified citrus pectin (I used this for one year post dx). Dr Eliaz has recently published some significant results which bear up under scruntiny.

However, the most important data I have been able to peruse with confidence is the Edge CAM.  I showed it to my oncologist who gave me blessings to go with it.

I don''t know either but here is an article I found. I am interested in knowing its safety and effectiveness w/ ER+.
