Lump on Shoulder

Hi Ladies,

I have not posted for a long time now.  I was dx with ILC at the end of 2005.  I have recently had a small, hard pea size lump show up on my shoulder.  It's been there for a couple of months now and I finally called the oncologist today.  He set an appt for me to see a breast surgeon.  I also have a swollen node on my neck that was checked a couple of years ago, it was not cancerous but it is still there.  My last blood work shows close to anemic levels.  I am hesitant to go see the surgeon due to more bills.  I am still paying off some of my initial tx.  Just wondering if anyone else had something like this and how it turned out.  And if anyone thinks this sounds concerning?  Of course at the end of the day I will do what I think is best, but I just wanted some feedback to bounce off of.

Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

I am also sorry you are dealing with this.

Just when we think we can relax, something new to worry about.

If it is new, I would have it looked at.

I had a nasty new lump within a year of my bx mastec. right under my scar and freaked...surgeon took it out right away and it was just a fat thingie.

I am in worry mode myself at the moment, so I know how gut wrenching that is.

I hope you can get in soon and all turns out fine.

Thanks for responding Gitane and Wallycat!  I don't know what to do.  I hate to go to the surgeon and have it be nothing and be out of pocket more $.  Are there even lymph nodes in your shoulder area?  I don't know.

Wallycat, I hope you get answers to your concerns soon that will take your worry away!

Good health to all of us!  :-)

g I'm not trying to alarm u, but even with no history u have to go and get it checked out. U can't ignore it. I too have founf various lumps around and so far they've been fine so I know that feeling--I probably always had them but now I pay attention more LOL So sometimes that's what they are just lumps of something, but u have to have it xhecked.  Hmm on u shoulder? seems odd so it's probably nothing--Let us know either way. U've tricked my curiosity. Good Luck

Wallycat, good luck with the colonoscopy!  I will keep good thoughts for you!  I had one when 1st dx and I do not wish to repeat!  :-)  It turned out fine and I am hoping the same for you. Let us know, OK?

Melmcbee, Well, it could be over, but when little things pop up I think you always get a twinge of 'what if.'  I hope smooth sailing for you!

camillegal, I know, and you are right.  I just couldn't figure out why the onc wanted to send me to a breast surgeon?  When I called to make the appt. with the surgeon they checked my ins. and called me back to tell me I would need to pay $350 up front and then pay upfront for the biopsy.  Because my deductible is 10k.  I told my oncs office that and they said the care shouldn't have anything to do with $.  Well, it does.  I eventually called my GP went to see him and he did a biopsy yesterday.  I should know by next Wed.  He said he thinks it will turn out to be nothing.  So, that's what I am going with.  I will let you know though.

Thanks to all of the ladies that have replied!  I truly appreciate it!! :-)

Autism_mom it was at the end of my shoulder, on the top.  It was very small, hard and about the size of a pea, I don't think it grew but it's hard to say.  It was pretty small.   It didn't move at all and wasn't rubbery.  It was definilty less expensive at my local GP than going to a breast surgeon!  And of course, much quicker.

Camillegal I will let you know.  I meet with GP on Wed. to get the stiches out and the results.  Although he said if they came in sooner he would call me.

Thanks, Ladies!  I appreciate the feedback!

It is all good!!  I went to the GP this morning, it is a tumor, although I can't remember what kind, it is benign!!!  That was the most important word for me :-)  When I get the report I will let you know what kind.  He said as far as tumors go, it was the best kind to have.  I really want to thank you all for responding to my post!  It did help me alot!!  I will return the favor anytime!

Wallycat, did you get your test yet?

Thanks again for the support!!!!  I am wishing us all good health for many, many years!
