Hi everyone,

Hope its okay to post here as my cancer is not ILC but sure acts like it.  I have mets to many areas, peritoneal cavity, bones, skin and liver(diffused).  I just want to know if anyone has got their abdomen drained?  I have an ultrasound tomorrow and if they find fluid they will drain.  I know I have had the Ascites for the past two years but just think week uncomfortable.  I went off trial last week and will start Havalen Tuesday.  Any info would be great.  I am over five years stage iV.......thanks for any info!

I had huge ascites with my ovarian tumor and had paracentesis five times.  I had so much pressure in my abdomen that I couldn't breathe properly or eat.  It is very simple.  They use ultrasound to guide a needle into the fluid filled space and then attach a tiny vacuum tube to it and attach the tubing to a vacuum bottle and the fluid just flows into the bottle.  It was blessed relief for me.  I felt so much better as soon as they decompressed me.  It is minimally uncomfortable.  They numb you up first, so the first couple of sticks with the numbing needle are about all there is to it.

I to had Acites drained from my abdomen/lungs. I have had my bc mets to my ovary/bladder and still wonder if it isn't ovarian now. The onc says it is my original bc. Anyway, for anyone who wonders, I to agree that the draining process isn't bad at all. Seems MelissaDall said it all so well and for sure you will feel so much better after having it done. Now I just hope it stays gone!
