Why a bone scan?

So I'm posting this for my mom who had a single mastecomy back in 2009. She went in for her yearly oncologist visit and they called her and said the doctor wanted a bone scan. Could this be from elevated tumor markers in her blood work? She had no lymph node involvement and didn't need chemo or radiation. Any ideas would be appreciated as my mom is not good at getting clarification.

it could be because of elevated calcium levels in the blood, I think. Any way that you can talk to her doc?

ugh turns out it was a bone density test........scared me!
