SHINGLES!!!

Options

So many of our ladies, especially those having chemo, turn up with shingles.  So, as always, talk with your doc/onc and see about the vaccine.

Gentle hugs, Shirlann

    Hi Shirlann,

I've had BC 4 times since 2005. I am now stage IV and currently in treatment. I received the vaccine in 2010. I feel all the chemo I've had has done a number on my immune system. I now get a flare up of shingles after every chemo cycle.

    The vaccine didn't help me.

Is the Shingles vaccine recommended for everyone or only those over 60?

According to my oncologist if you've had chemo you shouldn't get the shingles vaccine. It's a live virus and I was told no live viruses. A non live vaccine is in trial phases but not on the market yet. Please, please check with your oncologist before taking any vaccine. I don't know if you've only had radiation if you can get live viruses so please check.
