red, hot skin that isn't cellulitis

Last night, the inside of my upper le arm became bright pink and hot.  A few smaller splotches were on my chest.  I didn't have any pain and it wasn't swollen.  I drew a line around the area to make sure it didn't spread and went to bed.  The next morning, my arm and chest were normal.  Any one had this happen?

Lymphedema is so weird.

djls: watch it closely. Cookiegal has had red spots that were treated as cellulitis and then they decided they're just a mystery, but what you described, I would have started antibiotics.

    Glad it's gone.

I get something that sounds this (red & blotchy) on my leg that has chronic venous insufficiency and subsequent skin changes from surgeries decades ago).  However, my leg usually swells at least a bit The discoloration and warmth fades somewhat when I elevate the leg, and is usually much better in the AM.

This summer when it was really hot, a few times when I took my Solaris Tribute off my LE arm, I had what looked like diaper rash.  I watched it very carefully and skipped wearing the Tribute, and it resolved in a few days.  Also, sometimes my LE hand will suddenly change colors for no apparent reason. (my physiatrist says it is a Reynaud's-like phenomenon secondary to brachial plexopathy)  But this is very transient.

That said,  I'm with Kira ... keep a careful watch.  KS1
