I've been thinking about whether or not this past year has  been a good year.  I'm on the fence!

I was diagnosed with bc for the second time and went through surgery and chemo.  However, I am feeling great and am not particularly depressed.

So I am kind of confused as to what constitutes a good year!  I suppose it is rare to have a year without any troubles.  Wishing everyone health and happiness in this coming year - l'shanah tova!

This season marks my first cancerversary - I was dx'd in August 2011, and had to head straight into the High Holidays last year in the midst of all the soul searching that comes with facing your mortality close-up. Overall I do feel a sense of renewal, as I am in the early stages of getting used to my new normal. I'm thankful to be here and to see another Rosh Hashanah, to spend time with my sister and nephew (and brother-in-law), and am learning to appreciate all these moments. But so much of it is bittersweet because of the fear and uncertainty.

To me, a good year will be one with few regrets and I sense of accomplishment, even for the 'little things.' Wishing a good one to everyone - full of health and happiness.

Joan - Hope all is going well.

    Shana Tova to all!

The question of "Is it a good year?" can only be answered after the question "What is a good year?" which is an extremely complicated religious question.

May we all enjoy a year of good health and good relationships.
