I just had my 9 year anniversary

Hi guys.....errr gals that is :-)

I just was perusing the Internet and thought I would create an account after I ran into this place. I was a member back in 03-05.

I just wanted to give you triple negative gals some hope. I had 2 tumors 1.9 cm and 1.4 cm right next to each other, stage II Grade 3 cancer with 1 node positive.

I did 4 rounds of AC AND 1 round of taxol, had an allergic reaction so finished up with taxotere. I had a very very aggressive cancer. I was 36 years old when diagnosed and had a 3 year old. I am 9 years out.

I am here to tell you that there does finally come a time where you feel good finally and you quit with all of the researching and start living your life again. I even buy green bananas now :-)

Has my life been easy post chemo? I'm not going to lie...no it hasn't been. I've had a cholysystectomy (gall bladder removal). I have had headaches ever since chemo, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few years ago, and I suffer from chemo brain. I've had side effects from chemo they dont tell you you might have before going agreeing to go through it, but I'm alive and still improving every day.

I just wanted to give you ladies hope for a life after cancer :-)

Thank you so much for stopping by and giving us hope! I really try to stay positive, but just today I was coming down with cold and here we go. Every head ache, muscle pains and all makes me think what if it's something worse, you know?

Thank you so much for posting. I am three and a half years out and never thought I'd see this happen. While I can't say that the fear of looking over my shoulder has yet, or will ever, leave me, I do feel so grateful for achieving the time I have and pray that it continues. Your treatment was the same as mine, even to having to switch from my first taxol to the remaining treatments of taxotere. I pray that I too can post in 9 years as you did! It's such a positive olive branch for all of our sisters just beginning their journeys to reach out to hold onto. Long may the years continue for you.

Lara: Thanks so much for posting your progress. Your diagnosis was pretty much exactly like mine (although I was 52 at the time). I am almost 3 years out, and feeling better each day. Hearing from you gives me great hope!

THANKS LARA - - I'm have way through a 4-round taxotere/cytoxin regimen. . . I'm thankful that you have posted your 9 year anniversary. It makes me feel like I might get through this thing . . . and not have a recurrence. Praying, hoping and now, knowing that at least one gal has done it. I of course wanted to be back to normal after it is all over, so I am a bit disheartened to hear that 9 years out you still have issues. . . Hope all continues to improve for you!

Good to hear Lara.

I'm a couple months out from four years and my last trip through the tube in July was clean. That should be my last visit to the tube as I'm clean.

I'm going for the gold. I did a lot. 6 rounds of taxotare and cytoxin, every three weeks, for eight hours a day. Then seven weeks of daily radiation. And I worked through that hell. I got up and went to work and felt like hell and looked like hell, but I wasn't going to let it mess too much with me.

Everyone should understand that it gets better. One year is good, two is better , and on and on.

So great to see this post. I'm 32 have a 1year old and had a 4cm grade 3 tumor, I've had surgery and I elected to have a bilateral nipple sparing mastectomy and I'm now waiting for my final round of 6 TAC chemo and the results from the BCRA test... I hope and pray that I can make 9 years. I hope even more that I can see my one year old get to 21! Having triple negative makes such a cloud over survival, but seeing positive stories like this makes me optimistic. Thank you for taking the time to post in here. (I actually have tried not to research anything nor google anything in the hope that I wouldn't become obsessed - this forum came recommended from a friend - it seems so positive and helpful I joined)
