Lymphedema Blog features Carol57
Carol57 has created a truly amazing learning module for nurses, to train them to recognize, refer and treat their patients with LE, and she has been lauded at the NLN, and now featured on the Lymphedema Blog.
She intensively researched the literature and created a professional, clear, concise, and accurate tool that very well may help educate medical professionals nationally.
Her advocacy comes from her intelligence and drive, and she did it all, while working.
She is a true role model: sure, she joins the grrr thread occasionally, but she got her power and our power back by gathering data and creating a learning tool that will help us and all the patients who come after us.
She attended the NLN conference and spread the word, and asked informed questions and assisted in educating the entire LE community.
Carol, thank you for creating your nurses' teaching module, and educating the health care professionals and advocating for all of us.
Your fan
Kira

COMING SOON, TO A NURSE NEAR YOU!!!
(Wow, what would it be like not to have to protect ourselves from our nurses?
)
Thank you, Carol!

Carol rocks the house!

Thank you sooooo much, carol. Read it this morning on Lymphedema Blog! I whine and fret. You have done something to help all of us!

I was lucky enough to review Carol's document last month and was very impressed. Her Lymphedema Stories website is also a high quality effort.

You are all too kind! The course is now being used by 90 nurses at one institution, which had it certified for 6.5 hours of continuing education. I am now working on finding a continuing ed host to administer course downloads and the test, and to give and do record keeping for the CE. I will send a course pdf to anyone interested...just use the contact form at lymphedemaspeaks.com to request it.
So many wonderful people reviewed this course! Binney, Kira, vlnrph, beckysharp, tina337, lindalou, ohio4me, nitocris, and some very generous LE experts including Joe Zuther. I cannot say thank you loudly enough!
Let's get this to the nurses we know--
Carol -
I watched my NLN roommate pass out her document to people high up in the LE field and saw the astonishment in their faces at such a comprehensive, valuable document. Way to go Carol! Miss you already. Happy Birthday one more time.

Carol, congratulations and thank you!

Hey, I should also mention that many in this wonderful LE forum gave me quotes to include, to make sure we are communicating what it means to us to have LE. Lots of PMs to ask for and receive that help. And...Lindalou helped with her wonderful LE pictorial, and ...Becky and Tina337 got together to do a photoshoot of wrapping, and...our amazing friends at step up, speak out gave permission to use some of their website content. This was a very collaborative effort by patients.
And...lymphedivas, solaris, and Klose training (CLT training) gave photos, and...Bonnie Lasinski, a therapist and LE researcher gave photos and did an amazing helpful review, and...Joe Zuther gave me some content in addition to his wonderful review. So lots of people in our LE community really do care and were happy to help without being asked twice.
And finally, boy did I ever learn a lot about LE as I did all my homework for this!
