Except I have had a fever. I had an ultrasound today. I thought IT would make me feel better as they found no lumps. But in passing he told me I have dense breast tissue. So I am upset again now as I know it is a symptom.

My breast blew up overnight. Is hot to touch, and looks red and inflamed. I have had a low grade fever with it also.

Thanks for your reply. The fever has gone today, but the breast is just as large and hot. I would have thought if it was an infection, it would have started responding to the AB's by now.

I am seeing the doctor again tomorrow. What should I be asking him? Where to from here?

    Hi Megiemoppit,

I am not quite sure what to tell you, other than the fact that large chested women often have dense breasts. If you're having pain in your breast, this could be something simple, like discomfort caused by ovulation. When we get our period its not uncommon for the breasts to be quite sore. Your fever may be caused by something that has nothing to do with your breast. Normally, the symptoms of BC start with a lump or a thickening. You could insist that your PC recommend a mammogram or ultrasound to have a closer look...

I'm glad to hear that the fever has improved but it is important that you get the breast checked out with a qualified breast cancer centre.

Let us know how you get on with your appointment.  Do try to keep calm, I know it's not easy.

I went to GP. I have elevated CRP and white blood cells. He didn't seem to take me serous about the possibility of IBC. Ultrasound showed an infection. Hi did give me a referral for a specialist. I called and as soon as I said inflamed breat, they fit me in for Tuesday. I am still scared about it all. Really freaked out. I have a fever again today, and seem to be going downhill again.

I'm sorry to hear that your symptoms are not being taken seriously.  I agree with Bon that you should go to Emergency and get things checked out.  You will be worrying all weekend otherwise and obviously you have some kind of infection that needs attention and the red, swollen breast is a worry.  If you dont go to Emerg, see if you can get a cancellation for Monday.  Be firm.
