Mammograms after bilateral MX with implants?

Options

I was diagnosed with cancer in the right breast in 1989 (37 at the time) and a MX was performed. Nothing in th enodes so i got about 5 months of prophylactic chemo (IV and pills - so long ago that I don't remember what other than Toamxifen which was very new then, just for about half a year). At the time of the MX I had an expander put in and later on a silicone implant.

Fastforward 17 years later with bi-annual visits to my onc, and annual mammography for the left breast, and US for both as well as the usual bloodwork. Just as you think it's just routine, cancer was found on the left side. Went through mx and reconstructive surgery. Being a lot older, there were many more complications s.a infection (had to remove 1 implant and another time 2 weeks hospital on IV) as well as a hemotomathat meant the surg  had to go in again to drain the site. Had 4 rounds of chemo, 1 year of Herceptin (thank G-d no side effects), 5 years of Tamoxifen, and just started Arimidex now.

I was doing US once a year but the radiologist claimed that it wasn't worth it, because recurring CA could be felt through the skin on top of th implants. The onc said she was OK with me not going for the US.

Now I just read on one of the forums (can't find it back) that people do Mammograms with implants? How can you do that. Won't the implants burst because of the pressure???

After reading that even with bilateral MX there are enough women out there that get CA again in some of the minute breast tissue left, I got really scared. So can you do a mammogram with implants or not???

If anyone has any knowledge or experience with that please respond.
