My Recommended Articles don't apply to me
I signed up to get recommended articles, but lots of the ones I received don't apply to me, e.g. studies done on people who got LX + radiation, when I had MX and no rads; studies about triple-negative BC when I am positive for hormone receptors; studies about those diagnosed at 65 or older when I am 56. I didn't put any information under "my diagnosis" or "my treatments" until yesterday. Now that I have added it, will the recommended articles take it into account and send information that's more relevant? If not, I'd like to request that as a feature.

Hi curveball,
Yes, that's ideally how the system works. Once you input your diagnostic and treatment information, relevant articles will be served up to you, based on your individual situation.
While this is a new program, there are sure to be some kinks as we figure things out, but we're sure it'll be a super helpful tool!
Thanks for the input and let us know how it's working for you!

Thanks, I'll be looking forward to getting those articles.

I'm still getting more irrelevant articles than relevant ones, even after adding my birthdate, diagnosis and treatment information. Today I got three articles, two of which applied to women age 70 and up who had lumpectomy, and the about safety of chemotherapy in women age 51 or younger and pregnant. I'm 56 and had mastectomy. I'm having chemo, but I'm 56, not pregnant, and extremely unlikely ever to be pregnant in the future.
I think this feature needs more work to be helpful.

Where do you sign up to get recommended articles? Sorry if it's obvious!

Go to "My Profile" in the top right corner. There you will find an option to turn "recommended articles" on or off.

Thanks!

Still no improvement on relevancy of the Recommended Articles. I got 8 new ones today. Four of them were about the same drug for treating late-stage cancer (I am early stage), one about which older women can skip radiation (relevant only to women over 70 who had LX--I am 57 and had MX); and another about a drug to improve outcomes in premenopausal women (I am post menopausal). I think all of the information necessary to screen out these articles as irrelevant to me is in my profile, and has been for several months now. Of the last two articles, one, about lowered effectiveness of AI's in obese women, was also irrelevant to me since I'm not obese, but there wouldn't have been any way to screen it out based on the information in my profile. Only one of the eight articles was truly relevant--about a drug recently approved for prevention of bone loss in women taking AIs.
At this point, I'm at a loss whether to continue getting the articles and sending feedback about which ones aren't useful and why in hope that eventually the proportion of irrelevant articles will decrease, or just give up on the "recommended articles" as a complete waste of time, since the great majority of them have nothing to do with my specific diagnosis or treatment.

curveball, we hear your frustration! What's supposed to be a helpful feature just isn't working for you as it's supposed to. We'll bring this to the tech team again.
The useful/not useful feedback that you and other members provide is VERY helpful, and we truly appreciate that you take the time to rate whether articles are relevant for you.
