Summer 2012 RADS HANG OUT
Comments

Stacie: I had to go to the laundrymat one day before my chemo treatment. I hadn't been to one in about 20 years. On the plus side: your laundry gets done a heck of a lot faster than if you were doing it at home. My washer broke and it was a week before they could get the part. Congrats on your adoption shower. What a neat idea!

So, here I am at
The end of a three day break from rads (after10), and just this evening my skin started to feel really itchy. Weird, after 3 days off? Still only a little pink, but boy if I still have 4 weeks left and it's this itchy now?!? Oh boy. -
Mine is itchy too and it's been 2 days for me. I think it's part of the process.
-
Hi all, just popping to let you ladies know that one month after rads my energy level is way up. The two weeks after rads I just wanted to sleep (I would have preferred 9 pm - 9 am if I could get it), but then each day got better and better until I now have a considerable amount of energy and am working out 5 days a week. Yesterday I went on a long bike ride with my daughter after lifting weights (need to get some strength back) and it felt great. It probably was the first day I felt really, really good physically since this whole thing started. I am not waking as often during the night, but I don't know if it is because I am working out, or because my night sweats have subsided due to adjusting to Tamoxifen (on it now for 2 months). For all those still going through rads, there is light at the end of the tunnel!
Oh, and for those with itchiness, my RO told me I could use 1% hydrocortisone cream, but you should ask your RO. No sense suffering!
-
I am 16 treatments of 39 and have had the itching and also a feeling of rawness under my arm where the lymph nodes were taken!! I asked the RO and he also told me to use hydrocortisone cream on both areas! I thought the itching was because of a bug bite...LOL!
Slak I am glad there is light at the end of the tunnel cause I need my energy back!!!
-
4 more to go!!!! Doc told me today that there is a 5-7 delay. So the treatment I recd today won't show on my skin for 5-7 day.
In addition, some of sweat glands on my breast have been destroyed.. I don't mind that.
-
well i think i jinxed myself re sleep--last nite i had a devil ofatime getting to seleep-ended up with less than 4 hours!
careful what ya talk about gals!!!!
-
3 more left! I'm so excited! So far not itchy, just a very tanned boob!
-
3 more left too! Itchy here as well! Very tanned boob too. I am very tired now after working 9 hours!
-
I have been pretty tired, mostly towards the end of the work week. I take a lot of LONG naps on the weekends. Looking forward to getting my energy back!
-
2 more left of regular and the 5 boosts but am very dark/red and in pain. Doc suggests long weekend break. Bittersweet. VVH
-
VVH: I hear ya.
Kim: Took long naps this weekend too, and I am NOT a napper. Hopefully, I will be able to sustain my energy for next weekends festivities.
-
Karen, I am sure with all the fun festivities you will be fine! Rest up as much as you can before hand!
-
Wish me luck I am skipping a day between RAD #29 and #30 to take an overnight business trip to the Pentagon. Getting pretty sore. Hoping I am not too uncomfortable! Taking a pharmacy with me "just in case".
-
Hello ladies, hope everyone is doing well. 2 more to go for me. my fatigue is getting worse and still horrible insomnia. I was hoping the fatigue would fix my insomnia but nope!
-
Good luck Stacie!!
-
Took Musinex and speeded myself out. Shoot. Didn't realize it until these wee hours. Took an antidote (Ambien) just now. Wosh me luck I have to get up shortly.
-
Completed ghe regualr ones now just 5 boosts left; 1 day break tomororw then just next week!
By the way, getting dark and red happens more commonly with larger breasts and also for women of color.

3 out of 33 down for me. Stocked up on calendula lotion (already have a large tub of aquaphor on account of all my tattoos.
). Nothing to report so far ...
Congrats westwoodmom on being finished!
-
docziggy: Mix the aquafor with pure olive oil; it will spread more easily.
I am DONE tomorrow at 8 am
