    julz,

I feel so good that I am not the only one with the little devil sticking out. Its very annoying to say the least. I need to IGNORE it...yeah right...for a few more weeks and then tug at it. Thanks for your story of you attempts. I had a visual in my mind and it was cute.

     terrikoala

My steri strips came off but the adhesive stayed on for a long time, over a month.  I got it off with Goo-gone.

Hi terry i also had internal stitches. The ends were catching on my clothes when i went in for check-up the surgeon just cut the ends and said the rest would dissisolve in time. the breast needs to heal inside. Mind you my incission is a good 6 inches from my chest wall to end of boob so i couldn,t imagine pulling it out hahaha.

I had foot surgery last year, was called in for removal of the stitches and the nurse just clipped them close to the skin....thought I could have done as much but for this, I vote for calling the doc!

    Roberta...that story made me smile.

Proud...if the stitches were any place else on my body I could ignore them but when its on the  boob skin I see and feel it all the time.  There are only two really smooth parts of me...butt and boob and I don't want a 'barb' on either...lol.

    Infobabe,

The steri strips on each end have fallen off but only the ends of the others are starting to separate from the skin. I have plenty of Goo Gone so thanks for that hint.

Terri how's this for a visual (read on it's funny not gross)! I'm 4 foot 9 inches & standing on my tip toes trying to see the little sucker in the mirror while I do it at the same time pulling what's left of my lefty over as the insicion is on the side about where the underwire or side seam on a bra would go. That didn't work so I have one of those little makeup tables in breas that you sit at to put your makeup on. So I sat at that & aimed the mirror in the right spot to see what I was doing! I am virtically challenged! All my sons learned early how to crawl on top of things to get something! Just from watching me make dinner every night! Lol!

Julz....you cracked me up so much.  My best galpal is also 4'9" and I tower over her at 5'5.5".We are like Mutt and Jeff.  I had great visuals while reading your cute story. I can relate as my wild stitch is close to where yours was.  I took a large hand held magnifying glass with a light to see it up close while pulling my boob  toward center to get a better look ( I am large breasted). Then I used a baseball cap that has little LEDS on the brim and turned it on to try the little mustache scissors. When my husband was trying to snip it with large nail clippers he put on his bifocals and took me under the brightest light in the house and I held the magnifying glass so he could see what he was really doing but we failed miserably. We did exactly what we do when I take wood or metal splinters out of his fingers (carpenter).

I bet we could get more stories from the ladies on here and take our show on the road. It would made really funny stand-up.

    ROTFLMbO!!!!!

Terri side show indeed!!! I have 4 sons who are all thankfully taller than me now! My youngest at 13 just passed me & is over 5 feet now! DH is 5' 11" I married him for his GENES....& I'm not talking Levis! Lol! Now talk about Mut & Jeff! Hahaha! I embrace my vertical-less-ness as now that I'm older people think I'm younger than what I am because of my size! At least now no one mistakes me for my DH's daughter! Yep it's happened or better yet my Sons Sister! Oh yeah I've had a few doozy's over the years!

Your story made me laugh as I was thinking of a joke ... with a old couple well wrinkled in there 90's Martha & Henry ( to long to type & too dirty ) in it ..... Think old granny voice.....(my take on the joke) Martha says to Henry...."Henry" keep your mind on finding the stitch the chest sunk years ago & the boat left the dock a long time ago to find it & got lost at sea!

Too funny! Let's here em girls!

Proud, I called the doc and they told me just to drop in whenever I wanted and the nurse would clip them for me (there are two now). The incision is healing beautifully. I don't care about scarring but may not have much.  The 'dent' has started to form too.

Update on a couple of things:

To those who helped me with the stitch sticking out  of the incision issue. Its been almost 6 weeks so I took tweezers and went after the little devil. Pinched myself a couple of times trying to grab it because its very short but finally got it and pulled gently and VOILA...its out. It was almost an inch long. BTW...has anyone used vit E or mederma, etc on their scar?

Also... had  mammo yesterday for the RO to make sure all the calcifications are gone or she would have to send me back to surgeon...OMG. I was shaking like crazy waiting for the results almost as much as after the biopsy and all is well.......whew. I told the tech I always have how long it had been since the surgery and I had heard its going to hurt and she said yes it will. I reminded her I never had a problem with any mammo under 'normal' circumstances.  She hand cranked the 'squeezer' and it went really well. Hurt some but not like it could have.

So all set to go back to RO to discuss once and for all the benefits of rads for me. stage zero DCIS .6mm all gone with wide margins. Calcifications all gone so why do I need rads? I am weary of being told "it depends on the risk you are willing to take".

Terri, I did not do Vit E on the lumpie scars but used it in the past on a scar on my hand from a surgery.  You do need to start it early before the scar tissue sets up and I waited too long.  The scar on the boobie, not a big deal to me as my surgeon was really good.  Techs always comment on how minor my scar is actually.

and actually, the risk up to you, and your choice as you have heard all the junk.

I did rads and have no regrets

    proud,

I have used Vit E on other surgical scars that are more visible ot the public  so just wondered about this one. I really could care less about the scar being on my boob ...its a badge of honor...but thought I might smooth it a bit more even though it looks really good.

    Thanks

    Terri
