Found this informative Komen release on long term side effects of breast cancer treatment: search for the LE reference, if you find it, let me know....

http://ww5.komen.org/Content.aspx?id=19327354748&ecid=emklSept11:4

And yet, their LE page isn't bad...http://ww5.komen.org/BreastCancer/Lymphedema.html  They must have just forgot.

Thirty-five references and I did not see one that mentions LE. :/

    Good morning!

I just got a response to my email to Komen, laying out their reasoning. Here's what they have to say:

Dear B, thank you for contacting Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and for your feedback regarding our latest Komen Perspective's article- What can I expect? Late effects of breast cancer treatment.

For this article, we chose specifically to just focus on the long-term effects of chemotherapy and hormone therapy.  However, we may focus on the long-term effects of surgery and radiation therapy in another piece, where we would definitely mention lymphedema, as breast cancer survivors usually get lymphedema as a result of surgery or radiation to the lymph nodes in the underarm.

Also, in case you are not aware, we do have a full page dedicated to information on lymphedema within our website under the Understanding Breast Cancer section, found here: http://ww5.komen.org/BreastCancer/Lymphedema.html

I hope you found this information helpful.  Thanks again for contacting Komen.  We greatly value our constituent’s opinions.

    Regards,
    Erica
