MRI/MRA Brain, waiting...

I had a brain MRI and an MRA yesterday. For the past couple of weeks I have had increasing symptoms of right side leg thigh tingling, extreme fatique, foggy feeling, dropping things, going into the freezer when I wanted the refridgerator. When speaking, I feel like I am searching for words. Some family, friends say it sounded like I was slurring my words. I initally went to the ER and they did a Head CT Scan without contrast and said I call my doctor for an MRI. Could be a brain tumor. My question, if I did have a tumor I am thinking I would be told right away. I phoned the Doctor's office today and was told they are still waiting for the results. Is this 'no quick news is good news'? thank you all.

    HI westiemom, I am sorry you are going through this and hope your scans don't show any tumor  or other neurologic condition. You'd think knowing you are waiting they'd be  a bit proactive and try to them the scans read stat.  wishing you peace and strength. Please let us know how you make out.

    Thank you. I am just so tired. Is it true, that if they did find something you would be notified ASAP, not days later.

    I do not post often, but please know, all of the women, men, family and friends here, are in my prayers daily.

    I am confused. Are you waiting for the results of the head ct from the er or did you have a MRI that your dr ordered?



    Usually, the er will give you results right away. Like, when my liver tumors were found at an er visit, they told me there was a mass on my liver and they would fax the results to my onc.



    If it is a test ordered by my dr, they won't call with results.

    I am confused also. Did the er doc actually say "could be a brain tumor" or was that just what you were thinking. I would think the er would tell you right away, as they don't want to release you until they know, as that could be a liability for them. I hope all is well and that you find out before the weekend!

    Yes, when I first went to the ER 2 weeks ago today, the ER Dr. ordered a CT Scan without contrast. They send them off to Mass General to read. The ER Dr. then told me that the pilimanry results were okay and when he got the report if it was anything thaty would call me. He went on to say that I could go home, but I should call my Dr. on Monday to set up for a brain MRI. Why, I asked he said  could be a tumor. So I finally got the appointment with my Dr. this past Monday and had an MRI of the Brain and an MRA. I still have heard nothing about the results. Which leads me to think all is okay. No news, goog news. I still have my symptoms. Thank you all again. Sorry if I am confusing you with the telling of events.

    HI westiemom, If you have not heard from your doctor yet who ordered the mri and mra, I'd call and ask. he/she works for you, you pay their bills. They would normally have the results the same day or next day if you're here in the usa. GIven this was last Monday, they should definately have the radiologist report by now. Please make a call, that way you won't need to keep worrying. Good luck and let us know how you do.

    The Doctor's office called yesterday morning and I was told it was okay and to schedule an appointment to see him in two weeks. So I was able to get a ferry off the island yesterday afternoon. I drove to NJ, where I was treated and am still followed. I alreay had an appointment set with my Onc. for this morning. He sent me for a Bone Density Test. (I had AML, Luekemia at age 20, 1981, and had all the bad Chemo back then, plus total body radiation for my BMT.) DX in October 2007 with BC from all that radiation. The radiation put me at risk for BC. I cannot have radiation again. In any case I will wait and see what this shows. We really didn't talk about the exhaustion, leg, etc. I am also seeing my Breats Surgeon this Friday for follow up. This is all so consuming and so hard for me to just ignore. Thank you all again.     I spoke with my Onc on the phone Friday moring to get Bone Density Test results and lab work results. He said to take calcium and Vit D. I do not have Osteoperosis, but Osteopenia. I think that was the name. Lab results, Red, white, etc, he said were okay. He goes on and says that my thyroid is off, 'but you are on synthroid'. I am like, NO, I am not on anything. I asked is it Hypo or Hyper and he says a little of both. Come back in a month a will check it again. He is now on a two week vacation. I am so calling that office tomorrow and will see another Dr. I am not waiting. I have all the syptoms, dry skin, extreme exhaustion, bloated, feeling fat, confusion, slurred speach!!, which is why I went to the ER several weeks back. I was told many years back by a Dr. at MSKCC in NY, where I treated for my AML and BMT that eventually my thyroid will fail. Anyone here have thyroid problems and if so what was your experience. I am hoping a pill will make me feel better. Thank you all much.

    I forgot to mention that my Onc. here in NJ thought that I might be having TIA's and to take a baby asprin daily. This was prior to the blood lab testing results. So I wonder if it is not TIA's, but all Thyroid related.

    HI, I have thyroid. It is a simple blood test your PCP could do for you. Yes, sympsoms, foggy thinking, poor memory, dry skin, fatigue, weight gain, ..I'd skip the Onco and just call your PCP and ask them to test you.  Synthroid is easy to take and will set you on track if it is a thryroid issue.  Good luck to you.
