Anti-depressants Swell Me. I Need a New Drug....
One that does what it should....
Hi sisters, so I really want an anti-depressant but both prozac and zoloft made me swell badly with just one dose. I really loved how they felt (happy, happy, happy) but not worth it. I had to take a week to try to control the swelling after just one dose. It clearly elevated my blood pressure and I could never stay on it long enough to adjust...my lymphedema would be so much worse and it is my main source of depression/stress.
Anyone taking one that doesn't rev up the heart? Something more mellow. Not something addictive like Ativan....I don't mind it for now and then but I want something I can take to really help dialy.
Any advice?
Thanks,
Meg

H iMeggy: Man after chemo its a wonder we have any feel good things left in us. I am sorry about the lymphedema I do not suffer from that. I was watching Dr Oz yesterday and he had this whole thing on there about vitamin B12 and about how so many people are deficient. Moodiness, tingling of the hands and feet, depression are just a few of the symptoms of a B12 deficiency. So, I decided to try it and started on B12 today. He said to take 1,000 ? a day. They come that way in the bottle so theres no figuring it out. Hopefully you can talk to your Dr and see if he can test you for that. I really don't want to go back on a an anti-depressant and am trying to take the natural route if I can. Your Dr.will probably blow you off cause they are not taught to push vitamins but this sounds promising. Dr Oz says you can't overtake B12 it will just pass out of the body, no harm done. After Chemo they wanted me to take anti-depressants but it didn't agree with my new system. Watch Dr Oz on line, yesterdays show, and see what you think,. J

Citalopram is good and fairly easy on the system...many people take it for seasonal affective disorder. I'm not a fan of Dr. Oz. There's a site called crazymeds.com that give you the pros and cons of all of those types of meds...but remember, you may not get all the SE's listed. While St. John's Wort is a natural antidepressant and MUST NOT be taken with any other antidepressant, its effects are too mild for me. I found on citalopram that negative thoughts kinda disappear like a soap bubble. I am on a very low dose though (10mg. the starting dose). You may need (or not) ativan for a couple of weeks because anxiety tends to be a SE of all antidepressants altho you seemed to have missed that....which is GOOD. But, antidepressants sure get rid of anxiety in the long run. My doctor said after a few months you'll develop a new lifestyle.....I said I hope it was the lifestyle of the rich and famous.
