Anyone else getting Pertuzamab + Taxotere + Herceptin?
Hi. This is my first forum post. I am the first patient where I receive chemo to receive this combo of Pertuzamab + Taxotere + Herceptin. I would love to share notes about side effects with others who have this coursing through their bodies. I had my first infustion 7/20/12 and am supposed to get it every three weeks. I'm working full time in an office (aside from during chemo) but wonder if I should go on leave to manage this. I have no idea if these will subsibe or persist or get worse or worrisome. I doubt if the doc and nurses even know. From the list of side effects I have varying (mostly low level) degrees of: hoarseness, joint pain and stiffness, back and side pain, sore throat, unsteadiness or awkwardness, unusual bleeding (nasal passages always ready to bleed), unusual tiredness or weakness, body aches or pain, change in taste, dizziness, headaches, nasal congestion. Thanks for any insight!

Hi Surly and welcome,
While you wait for the ever helpful insight from the other members here, you may be interested in checking out the main Breastcancer.org site and the Perjeta (chemical name: pertuzumab) pages for all the ins and outs of the drug including how it works and what side effects to expect (with tips on managing those side effects!).
Hope this helps!

I am not on perjeta, but I am on herceptin and did 6 months of taxotere. Taxotere is tough and the side effects are cumulative. I felt pretty good after the first couple but by number 6 , I was really sick. There was no way I could have worked.
But, everyone is different. There are women who do work throughout treatment.
Good luck

I just started Pertuzumab on Thursday. I was doing Taxotere/Carboplatin/Herceptin, but as I started my fifth cycle this week, my doctor dropped the Carbo and added Pertuzumab. I have had less side effects this time. I have more energy so far than I did on the TCH. The Herceptin always makes my nose drip/bleed/dry out in a cycle, but it's no big deal really in the grand scheme of things! I am so thankful that I got Pertuzumab! Praying for nothing but positive results for us all from this new drug! I am excited to keep in contact with others using it and compare stories!

I am curious to do a side effect check with others too. My main complaint right now is just diarrhea. It has been pretty bad! I also have had some hoarseness in my voice during the first week after treatment and a nose that varies from drippy to dried out and bloody.
