Hi everyone,

This one has been on my bucket list.  How to get the message out about the importance of exercise?  I got to do that about a month ago.  However, the real hero in this article is the other lady, Shawn Boice.  What a trooper!

The important thing is to walk, run, cycle, hike, ski, swim the talk.  Which I have done throughout this journey.

I am doing the 200 Mile Seattle-to-Portland in a week's time, and then, the RSVP to Vancouver BC next month.  The first time ever for the RSVP.  Talk about an extreme method for getting out of Seattle for that weekend!!!

Anyway, the most wonderful finale to a great day!!  Hoping everyone has the most fantastic summer. - Claire

great job...i just ran the color run with my daughter last month in michigan. i am 11 years with bc. ran a 1/2 marathon 2 years ago. reoccurance stage 4 this past year but still plan on running. im signed up for a few 10ks and excited to do my first dualathon. i figure i have to stay as strong as possible so i can tolerate the meds. my husband bikes. just did washington to california border. he is to good for me and wont buy a tandom:(   i guess he doesnt feel like dragging me up those big hills..lol  i would love it!!!  but its cool to wach his face everytime i cross a finish line, i can see the tears, and the pride he has in me. and my daughter says, "mom has stage 4 and she stills runs, if that's not badass what is!!! so proud of you mommy" that was her facebook post from my last run. if that doesnt make you keep on keeping on, what does:)

Awesome everyone!! I'm a hardcore lifer endurance athlete junkie! I rode my spinning bike for the first two months of chemo but then just couldn't hang in due to low blood counts causing internal bleeding around my expanders. Now that chemo is more than a month behind me I have been spinning, walking, jump roping, and weight lifting my way through radiation. I plan to run tonight (3rd run since end of chemo) despite some redness from radiaition. I figure if all those years of hard core don't kick in for me now...well...now is when I really need it. Lets keep going, Ladies!

I just got out of a hot bath, soaking my sore glutes.  Update is that I did get to Vancouver, plus did a couple of other events before the season was over.  I hiked the foothills of Mt Rainier too on a clear day, was breathtaking!

This weekend was soggy with wet leaves so took my speed way down.  Lots of slippery conditions plus you can't see the bumps in the trail.  But gorgeous, and did 70 miles over both days.

It is also more work cycling when pavement is wet as less efficiency in transfering momentum.  At least, I THINK that's what my glutes were saying to me!

I think I am feeling a triathlon coming on for next year.  My ankle should be healed enough to learn to run on it. (Why taking it very slow cycling today.)  I don't care if my swimming "form" is nonexistent.  I can cover distance, and I won't drown.  So running is the one I need to learn.

What I mean by "better than ever". - Claire

    Claire--MY HERO!  (or heroine).

Because of you, I was athletically active all through chemo and radiation.  On the 1 year anniversary of my dx I hiked to the top of the highest point in Arizona at 12,633 feet (from 9000 feet), and back, in one day.  I also out-hiked five college students (we were all hiking out of the Grand Canyon 7 miles, 5000 feet straight up from river to rim), 3 weeks ago.  Took me 5 hours; they were behind me by an hour.

Keep posting your accomplishments!  I love to hear about them.  Hugs.

Thanks everyone.  My butt hurts today as glutes are complaining about my 60 mile ride on Saturday, plus 20 more yesterday.  I finished yesterday just as it was starting to get nasty out.  The new end of the Centennial Trail is just breathtaking.  I got in the ride before the days get any shorter.

JRyan....hope your hike was great.  (And that you dressed warmly!) Saturday was just stunning out.  However, I have a bit of swelling in my first finger joints....from frostbite.  The colder weather is indeed upon us.

ClaireinAZ - doesn't it feel great to be at the one year point.  Love the story about out-hiking the college students.

Anyway, can't wait for skiing.  My ankle is healed so should be fine this year.  Will invest in boots with more support just to be sure.  I want to look into hut-to-hut skiing as should be fun.  Plus, you can eat everything in sight.

One tidbit I will pass on.  Arnica works better than Aspercreme on shoulder pulls.  I think I hit something the wrong way on Saturday.  But feel like a new woman after slathering on the Arnica gel.....important to remember. - Claire
