edited June 2014 in Lymphedema

Hi girls, I was hoping that someone here would have experience on this. As I found out in May my cancer was back with several axillary lymphnodes positive, shoulder nodes, supraclavicle nodes and mediastinal nodes. I have been on chemo since June 4th. Did 4 AC and I am on my 3rd Taxol. My arm and shoulder pain are not any better and my lymphedema is still being ugly.

I am asking for a scan next week, it will be my 3 month mark. I am afraid my nodes are still active with cancer and that they are not operating properly and in turn causing the pain and LE to flare up.

I do MLD but doesnt do anything. Should I see if a pump would help, maybe insurance would cover it?

    this is a talk to the docs day for sure, I get pain in center back and convinced it is from the lympho but it is too tricky to diagnos yourself

    my pain comes and goes and actually is much happier when a do a few laps in the pool, but that is me and I have been a swimmer for ever

    Ange-2012,

    I am 40 now but was 37 when diagnosed the first time. You could have just b9 cysts in your breast but call your doctor to be examined. I have had lymphnodes removed 2x so that is why I have arm pain and my nodes in my shoulder are also very large.

    Call your OB or PCP to be examined. Never hurts to be safe. Keep us posted please!

    I hope you get the answers you need.

    For tonight I will tell you I did not have cancer reoccur and I do have arm and shoulder pain, from the lymph node removal surgeries. Lymph nodes can cause problems (LE and soreness) even when there is no cancer.

    let us know.

    Hello Proudtospin,

    I too have shoulder pain, and it is from a frozen shoulder.  Have you talked to your doctor about that?   I had an LD flap done in March after losing 2 implants to infections on my left side.  My right implant is fine.  I still have flexibility and pain issues from the flap surgery.  I do exercises for the frozen shoulder and also swim.  The backstroke is especially helpful.  It takes about 20 laps to warm up, but after that I'm fine.  The water is a great equalizer!

    I confess that I spoke to my PCD a couple of months back as I thought maybe I had a broken rib!  she did an xray and no broken rib, around then the pain went away as mysteriously as it occured

    I am much more cautious about lymphedema rules as I am placing the blame there, have not seen the PT who worked with me on the lymphedema in the past but planning on connecting with her next week

    holi moli but one thing after another
