How to support a friend?

Hi, sorry, I'm new at this, but i would really like some help.

My best friend and I share a lot with each other, and usually we can help each other out with our problems and anything. My friend's mom has stage 4 breast cancer, and has for years, and though i knew that when i met her, in the last few weeks it's gotten very bad and I'm really concerned that there isn't much time left. I personally don't have much experience with death in my family, and though I try to help, there's so much I don't know, or have to say. 

I love my friend and would do anything for her, but i don't know where to start. can someone please help me with what I can do or say?

    just be there, listen, and be there...dont wait for her to ask you, just do it. This is going to be very difficult.

    It sounds like you want to do and or say something....unfortunately, I do not believe there is anything that can be said.  But you can take the role of caring for the family by making sure everyone is comfortable.  Keep water/coffee/whatever close, make dinners and lunches, keep the house tidy, walk their pets, get the children to the park/outside...just be there and take care of the things that they may not want to handle rigtht now....

    that is, of course, if this is something that would help your friend.  If you ask anyone if they need anything...the answer will most likely be "no".  But, if you just take care of things, they will recognize how much you helped at a later time.
