Here's me...concerned again.

Options

I have had a headache for 13 days.  It's an all over headache although there are tender spots and sometimes it feels like someone is sticking a fork in the top of my head.....it is never the same strength at the same time of day....for example it isn't worse everyday I come home from work or at the worst in the morning, etc.  My shoulders and neck are stiff and tight.  Tension, right?  Then I started wondering if I got tick bit....or if I had an inner ear infection.  So I started cleansing my ear with murine and the bulb and it hurt like HELL.

So I decided that I had an inner ear infection.  Went to the Urgent Care and saw a nurse practitioner.  She said my ear didn't look altogether normal but it didn't look infected either.  She said my face in front of the ear is swollen and that even if I didn't have an ear infection I definitely had some sort of infection.  She then gave me antibiotics and sent me away.

I didn't realize that we have lymph nodes there.   And now I am concerned.  I know I shouldn't do this.....I know, I know!

Anyone know about BC spreading to nodes in the jaw/face area?  It hurts mostly under the ear in that area just behind the jawline. Suddenly I have cancer in my nodes or bone mets to my jaw!  Aaarrggghhh, does this ever end?!

wrsmith2x, I'm sorry you have this worry. Yes, I think there are nodes in that area but don't forget that nodes swell in response to infection.

How are you going on the antibiotics?

I'm not familiar with the model of care where you attended, but it sounds like you do need to see a doctor as the nurse's level of investigation sounds inadequate. Did she even do a blood test to confirm infection?

It's a good idea to have a plan for how to deal with episodes of concern. Some ladies call their oncs but mine prefers me to see my GP first. So, depending on my assessment of urgency and concern about an issue, I will make an appointment with my GP or go to the hospital ER, where tests can be done immediately and the doctors are used to seeing bc patients and can readily contact my onc.

Ask your onc what he/she prefers you do in these situations.

Please see a doctor, and I hope the cause is benign.

have you seen your dentist?  Maybe it's a tooth problem.

You are right, the worry never seems to stop! I think that area is a common place for infections to go, and like itsjustme said, could be tooth related. I hope your antibiotics clear it right up.

Going to have to go back to the doctor as the antibiotics have given me an allergic reaction.  I will see the onc in 3 weeks and mention it to him also.  I appreciate all responses.
