I am counting the dayz till I am done done done. Oh I am counting the dayz until I am done done done. Life will go on and I am so excited. In case you can't tell I am singing, not saying this.
-
Stacie- are you starting any Tamoxifen or Arimidex or are you already on it? But I can still hear your song:())))))
-
I have the soreness in my armpit area and it is starting to get a little red also! I am on treatment 8 of 39! I sure hope that is not an indication of things to come.
Yesterday I had a lady who has had about 22 of 32 rads completed tell me she goes home and goes around the house on the top in her birthday suit! LOL Now every time I see her that is the mental picture that comes to mind!
-
What a picture!!! I will tell you tht I haven't worn a bra since my first treatment. I was told that where the bra rubs is the first place the skin will break down. I wear a little tank top and always some type of blouse that opens but covers my breasts. Those nipples always try to give me away:())))))
-
I had my RO appointment yesterday. I saw her in February when I was first diagnosed but not since. Got my planning CT next week. Should be starting rads in 2 weeks. got some ALRA cream and deoderant and aquaphor. Not looking forward to this but I am also ready to get it done and over with. I want it to kill any stray cells that the chemo and surgery missed... kill cancer kill it.
-
January I am on Femara x 2 weeks. Too early to assess SEs since many are progressive over time.
My nipple hurts today also going braless.
So glad you liked my so-o-ong. -
Stacie: Thanks for singing to us gals. 22/33 done. So far so good.
-
Me: nipple sensitive and dry (even with the aloe and lotion) did anyone experience any chest achiness:..not pain exactly though. 19 of 30 done!
-
33 of 33 tomorrow! Finally to the end. Wishing everyone the best! Xoxo

woohoo westwoodmom!

Hi all. I am new to this thread. I have one more chemo cocktail to go in a couple of weeks then dr says 2-3 wk break then start radiation. I am still in a bit of chemo fog but am trying to focus on going forward and learning as much as I can before rads start. I would appreciate any advise, tips as I do not know where to even begin to ask questions. Thank you!
-
Thats great Westwood. How do you feel?
-
Another sister (Westwood) done!!! Let the celebration begin. Before you know it we all will be doing the happy dance!!! I finished # 15 out of 33 today. It seems like it was just yesterday that it was only the first. The time does go fast!! And I think a whole lot easier than chemo:()))))
-
17 of 30. Soon and soon enough or however that song goes. Sore, swollen breast and arm, darkness and slight redding but hopefully safer. I can't wait til I'm done.
VVH -
Congrats Westwood!!!
Please note: I need to go buy more aquafor. Woke up this morning to the dog crunching away. Apparently, she ate the ENTIRE jar o the aquafor/olive oil mix. No S/E's from her thus far 12 hours later.
-
All done and I feel pretty good. Did have some days towards the end where I had some fatigue strong enough that I had to lie down and nap but other than that my skin is red but not blistered. Never thought my skin would look this good as I'm quite fair. The fatigue actually took me a little by surprise but hoping it gets better the more days post rads I get. Good luck to everyone finishing up! It happens quickly once you get the first week down. xoxo
-
Oh my Karen! I hope the dog doesn't get sick!
-
Thanks for the hopeful report West. I am 1/2 way and no fatigue yet. I have such sleep issues related to my mood disorder my hubby is like "yea right" about anything making me sleep more. I'm a 6 hr a night never napping goin and blowin gal. So its sort of a science experiment here at our house waiting to see if radiation is going to defy history.
-
i start RADs tomorrow.
worried about finding things to wear to work that won't get ruined by creams.. and the nipples giving me away if braless thing...thank goodness my dress code at work is casual...however....
-
Lumpnme: I have been wearing the genie bras (so did Babette). I have two more weeks to go. I love them. No underwires. Enough support, etc. They are safe in both the washer and dryer. I bought them at Burlington Coat Factory after my lumpectomy. 3/$19. Look around. I know they sell them online. Don't know what your size is, but my mom is a 32A, weighs 108, and wears a medium. I am a 32D and wear a large. They are like wear nothing...I wear them to work out too. They have padding that you can take out when you wash them. PS--I have 10 treatments left--5 regular and 5 boosts (2 weeks, yeah!) and I am doing fine so far. Once in a while I feel a little burn under my armpit that feels like a razorburn, but other than that, I am very fortunate. Keep lubing, girl!
-
i've actually been wearing some front closing leisure bras for months now- just too lazy to wear "regular" bra!
i'm more worried about blouses/shirts so that mine don't get ruined by lotions and creams..this week; i'll be going back to work for a few hours after rads each day ..i'll find some old t's that don't have pics or writing on them...
-
I am more of a reader than a poster (love all the advice and sisterhood here - thank you!), but wanted to jump in with a great tip my RO gave me to stop my bra rubbing and avoid staining clothes. I cut up some old, soft t-shirts into rectangles, and then place the soft cotton rectangle over my lotioned breast and underarm area, then put on my soft bra over the top (I have a Warner's "Friday bra" with no underwire - great support!). It takes a little while to arrange everything so it's not bunched up under my bra, but then it's comfortable for the rest of the day at work. I am only halfway through rads, so not sure if this will still be comfortable up until the end. So far, it has allowed me to wear all my regular clothing with no staining issues at all.
Another thing I have been using is boiron calendula first aid ointment. I use it on my nipple and in the crease under my breast, and it greatly decreases redness and sensitivity. I love calendula everything, and also use weleda calendula baby cream and lotion!
Wishing everyone here minimal side effects on their rads journey!
-
Lumpy: I am using the Miaderm the Ro gave me and I have not had a problem with the cream/lotion staining or coming through anything except on the inside of my bras. The aquafor/olive oil mix is another story...Crazyride gave a good suggestion on that. Thank you!
-
I've ordered my Aloe Plus gel and an extra jar of Ultra Repair Cream. I know it's still a few weeks until I need them, but I feel better being prepared.
-
Cottontail: I would highly recommend starting to use the Ultra repair cream now. Doesn't hurt.
-
My surgery is this week, so I would assume there will be a few days right after when I shouldn't be using cream on my breast? I'll start as soon as I'm able to do so, in preparation. I have used the Ultra Repair Cream on my hands for a couple years now, as it calms my eczema and helps heal my skin after outbreaks. It's part of my nighttime routine, so it will be easy to just use more and put it on my breast.
It's not greasy, no fragrance, etc, so I'm not worried about it messing up my clothes. -
crazyride-thx for the suggestion re the rectangles! i rubbed a teeny bit of the cream from my RO on my hand tonite to see what it was like- it's kindof sticky but not greasy so probly won't be much trouble- except i don't know if it will truly be effective enuff!they have said use as much as i want they will give me more but..... where do you get the calendula creams? i love calendula as well!
it really helps hearing from others!
-
Hey ladies....I wear a cotton cami and put my Bra over it
It feels better against my skin and protects my bra. -
1 down!
