Lumps that are only prominent when in certain positions

I have found a pretty large bump at 3 o'clock a couple of days ago. It is bigger than a grape, smaller than a walnut. I went to the doctor but have not had a mammogram yet. Anyway, this lump is very hard, but movable (if I am understanding movable correctly). When I am standing up, if is very easy to detect by touch. When I am laying down or slumped at all, you can feel it, but it is much more difficult. Has anyone had anything like this? Also, this thing seems like it came out of nowhere. But maybe I never found it because if how it disappears when I lay down. Suddenly, my breasts were very tender and sore the other day, so I had to take my bra off. That is when I found it. The weird thing is, it was after my ovulation but about 11 days before my period. My breasts are never sore this far before my period. Anyone experience this? I am 40, no family history, in shape, health conscious.

    That sounds like mine. Literally popped out of no where. It was easy to feel when standing up without a bra on. Completely disappeared when I laid down. It was very round and felt moveable. Even my breast surgeon thought it felt like a cyst. It showed up right after my period. It was a very rare and aggressive cancer that is known for popping up out of no where because they grow so fast. Get it checked out. Chances are it is nothing but it is best to confirm that.

    I found my lump myself, 9 months after my mammogram missed it. It was hard and moveable, but only felt pea sized. Because it was moveable, my primary physician thought it was a cyst. Although I had good health insurance, it required "referrals" from one office to the next and back again, and my referrals and appointments kept falling through the cracks. It took me another 15 weeks to get my diagnosis.

    It turned out I had a rather non-aggressive type of cancer. (Go figure). HOWEVER, having been down this path before, if I find ANYthing unusual now, I raise a stink to be seen right away. It's always best to get it checked as soon as possible.

    Well, good thing yours turned out to be a non-aggressive type since it took so long to get diagnosed! I was suppossed to get the mammogram in about 10 days initially, but luckily I called to see if there were any cancellations, and I get my mammogram and ultrasound in 3 days! I am so happy?

    My lump is like that.  Right behind the nipple.  Had a biopsy and still waiting for it.  Since I nursed my kids, I have um...mommy boobs, so I literally need to sit up and feel it.

    A little history: I have had a lumpectomy in 2001(left breast) which was benign and a breast reduction in 2004. I have heterogeneously dense breasts as well fibrocystic. However, I found an unusual lump in my left breast in May 2018 (that I can feel more prominent when standing up) and went to go see my Breast Specialist. She said she did not feel anything but ordered a diagnostic Mammo and US to investigate further. However, neither showed the lump I am feeling. It seems since then it has gotten slightly (but not too much) bigger. I have a scheduled appt with a different breast specialist on Wednesday. Why would it not show up on tests such as an US and 3D mammo but I obviously feel it? To me, It feels pretty deep as far down as the breast wall. It baffles me.. any thoughts?
