Please help! Does this look like IBC rash or markings to you?

I noticed this marking last Thursday and figured it was eczema or contact dermatitis. But I have been using hydrocortisone on it and it does not seem to be improving (it has been only 4 days.)

But I am given to tremondous health anxiety and so I am looking for more information. Does this look like the rash or markings you had? It is a half circle, falt, red and similar to the outline of my thumbnail. It has two small dots next to it.

I may be feeling a little breast tenderness but I am very prone to being suceptible to the power of suggestion so I don't now. The breast is the same size as the other and the nipple looks nnormal.

I plan on making an appointment with my Nurse Practicioner tomorrow but want any inpiut. If you think I should, I can make a appt with a breast clinic in town (the Piper clinic for breasts in Minneapolis.)

I am 34 by the way, on birth control with no history or breast cancer in the family. I do have very real chronic health anxiety though.

PLEASe help and again, I will be making an appt with a doctor as soon as clinic opens tomorrow.

Thanks,

The area is flat. In my anxiety,I see I made all kinds of typos.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi Katie, I never had ibc so other than pics I've seen Idk what it looks like. But it looks to me like it could possibly be ringworm. Is it itchy and the also painful I'd you scratch it? I'm just going by my own experience of a time when I had it. Maybe try tinactin and if it improves that might be what it is, since other things aren't working. Someone who knows more about ibc will be along I'm sure.Heidi

I thought the same as HLB...ringworm....which you can get from pets. IBC usually has a rash that hasn't such a clear border and shape as your mark is....I'm not a doctor but any pictures I have seen of IBC, it's a rash, inverted nipple sometimes, swollen and painful...and warm. Yours is in a nice, warm, moist area too....perfect for skin infections from heat...and ringworm.

    Always get things checked though.

Hi all. Thanks for the responses. I have an appt with my doc next week friday (first available appt). The spot does not really itch but my mom (a nurse) told me to try lamisol on it. So maybe that it is.

I do have eczema in my elbow creases and eyelids and have patches elsewhere before. I put some high strength cream prescribed for this eczema and it seems to have gotten lighter. I am still worried though... as it sounds like many with IBC have assumed it was something equally minor.

But thanks for the ideas. I'm still keen to hear other's thoughts too.

Thanks all- you are some amazing women!

McKeeka, no this doesn't look like my IBC. I am not a doctor just a warrior. My best friend came over to my house 2 days ago with something that looked similar to you picture. The OBGYN told her it was a yeast inflection and in this heat it's pretty common he said.

he told her to use Lotrimin (sp?) and relax.

There are many reasons for rashes and spots especially when the weather is hot.  But do be diligent and watch for any other signs of IBC such as warm, enlarged breast, inverted nipple, skin thickening around areola.  My IBC rash looked nothing like your round spot but I do know that we are all different and we are not doctors.

Keep in touch, we will help when we can.

Thanks Venaba and Chester2010 for your responses. My circle seems to be going away with hydrocortisone and another costosteroid. But I did notice that the areola on that breast is both darker and larger. And I swear I have been feeling some pain occasionally in both breasts but especially the one with the mark. Can manipulating and touching breasts cause pain like that? (unless it is esophagitis pain masking itself--- stress gives me heartburn).

As I said, I am visiting my doc on this next Friday (first available appt) but she is my ob/gyn. I thought I'd see what she had to say and then visit a specialist if it gets worse? IBC would be getting worse, after a week, right? Did any of you have a rash that disappeared?

Thanks all in advance. I think I know my body but you know, I don't trust my mind with anxiety. So any advice helps.

Kidouglas, she only posted four times, so it is a pretty safe bet it was just a skin issue.

Wow, what a blast to the past! If the Mods see this the photo it will disappear pretty fast--no longer allowed, which is a good thing. We shouldn't be posting pictures of our breasts on the internet.

That being said, this is a very un-IBC looking photo here, in my humble, un-doctorly opinion. If a friend said "hey, what's this?" I'd say "probably ringworm."

August 2012. I was in the middle of rads and starting Xeloda/Navelbine. Almost six years NED. Thank you God. SB

I have this too, but I can tell they aren’t ringworms. I dont know what they are please someone look into this again! I’m actually worried as well. They are itch and randomly appear but there’s no pain nor is it a lump. It’s just in the skin like it was just dry in that spot.

Wolfygirl if you have a rash that randomly appears (comes and goes) it is extremely unlikely that it is IBC, which rapidly gets progressively worse. You should see your doctor about it, none of us here can properly diagnose your symptoms over the internet. This section is for people who have been diagnosed with IBC and you posted in a very old thread, I doubt any of these people are still on this forum because none of them had IBC. You may find some assistance with skin problems or help with calming your fears in Not Diagnosed But Worried https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/83
