Changing Jobs/Temporary Loss of FMLA and STD/LTD

As of tomorrow, I'm 3 months out of treatment.  As you can see below, I'm Stage IIIC.  I was contacted about a new job, and I'm struggling whether to go forward with the interview process or not.  I am afraid of losing my FMLA status which requires 1 year of employment and having a waiting period on pre-existing conditions for short and long term disability.  On the other hand, I know I can't live my life this way.  This job, should I get it, would be a big promotion for me.  On the other hand, I wonder if I should stay put a little while.  How long a little while should be...I don't know.  Would appreciate anyone's thoughts or experiences.  Thanks.

Start the process. It will work out as it should. I got an offer one day after Dx and two months of interviews. That was in May. They keep pushing my start date. It's now November 5th. I NEVER would have thought.

Juneaubug:  I'm not sure what you mean by the question, but I believe that you must be employed by the current employer for one year prior to being eligible.  There is not a provision currently where you can carryover tenure from one job to the next.

Very true. Employers with less than 50 employees in a 75 mile radius do NOT have to offer FMLA.

Just my two cents....don't put anything on hold because of the "what if's"....I'm a 3c as well and those little buffers like to Get in the way...

Update--I interviewed for the job with the headhunter, but decided not to proceed further. I have decided I will take a risk, but a calculated one. The job would require me to layoff 6-7% of the employees within a couple of months of employment, and I felt that would be career suicide. The last thing I need is to leave a good, stable job for a job that I'm not sure I can succeed at. So, I passed, knowing that something better will come along!
