Thanks for sharing.  Seven years with metastatic disease (up to the study publication), resection on 3 organs and still with a good quality of life. Amazing.

Very important information for Patients to know - especially if dealing with a 'negative' oncologist who says there is nothing more we can do but give you drugs......

    Hello Omaz and CP

Thank you very much for your comments.

I hesitated posting this link because this lady has been through a lot of treatment and some may think this is not a positive case study. On the other hand, she is alive!

In addition,on some threads and websites I have read, some posters are saying that their onc does not use surgery for this stage.

Thank you, CP for your comment.

    Best wishes

    Alcie

Alice - Yes, I hear you. This patient has been through more hell than many of us can imagine.  She is indeed a walking miracle at 18 years survival!!  What I applaud about this article is that she was given the CHOICE to continue fighting this horrible disease.  Her doctors did not give up on her metastatic status but offered her surgical options.  Maybe she was treated like a single patient clinical trial?  (It does make me wonder about her insurance company.)  She was ALLOWED to decide to pursue more aggressive treatments.  Many doctors would never have discussed or considered these treatments with this patient.  Some would have sent her home without her knowing maybe more could be done????  I applaud her doctors and I applaud her courage - - maybe not the right choice for everyone.  There is no doubt that very valuable treatment information was learned from her journey which may benefit others like her.  Wishing her many more years of life!!!
