hey i'm a college student living w/my mother who was diagnosed like a week or two ago. Still pretty new and no idea what to expect. What kind of care will she need? How will I be able to help her with needs through chemo/radiation?

That's awesome that you want to help!  Can you tell us what kind of surgery she's having (lumpectomy, mastectomy, bilateral mastectomy, etc)?  It will make a difference as to what kind of care she'll need.  =)

Short of having a few more details....I had a daughter in college at treatment time...here's some of what she did for me that I carry in my heart everyday...

    1. She called as often as she Could if even just for a few minutes.

    2. She called when she was walking alone so I Could still feel like I was just me: ) helping my baby.

    3. She'd update me on all her school stuff, ask (and listen) to how I was doing.

    4. She did some amazing projects on cancer....no statistics...and used positive thinking and lifestyle as a guide because I was all about that!

    5. She never treated me like I was less of a person, would say kind things and didn't lose herself in my personal hell. In fact, she is stronger and more amazing to me than I can explain.

So sweetie, be good to your mama. Do kind things. Listen deeply. You really will need to react to her as our journeys are all so very different. Love her with everything you've got because....I can see she raised you just right: )
