I am sure this has been dealt with before but I can't seem to find a thread for this.

It is my first mosquito bite in 2 years...and it is in the upper arm. I supposed I itched it while I slept, during theday I keep my hands away...

But aside from neosporin or something anti -itch...what is the right thing to do? Wear a sleeve until healed? Treat it like a burn? Seems like over-kill. or not??

I normally only wear my sleeves for activity. So this is new to me. My lymphedema is mild...mostly 'fluff" under my arm. (armpit)

Thank you.

I had a mosquito bite during our summer camping holiday that I freaked out about.  But I sprayed it with antiseptic spray, put a bandaid on at night, so I couldn't scratch it as easily and kept wearing my sleeve during the day.  I used to be awful about scratching bites, but I was so freaked out that I didn't even touch it, instead I watched it like a hawk, and Hooray! It went away by itself without more than a couple of days of trauma.  BUT I hadn't broken the skin, and it never swelled right up.  I know it is something to be careful about--if it swells more, or gets bigger get thee to the emergency room!

Mosquitoes have always avoided me ... until I came home from the hospital after a double mastectomy with an info sheet suggesting that I avoid mosquito bites.

Now, they bite me all the time. This summer, for the first time, I've got a couple of big, red lumps on each arm all the time.

The next time I am given an info sheet, I hope that it says, "avoid winning the lottery" or "avoid gifts of chocolate" ...

Sandyflats, you made me laugh out loud!  Too funny!

I find that mosquito bites take longer to heal on my LE arm than elsewhere, and the same is true for minor scratches.  I use a product called AfterBite--you dab it on as soon as you realize you've been bit, and for me at least, it quells the itch immediately.  But it still takes forever to fully heal.  So far, so good, as I've not had cellulitis from what feels like the inevitable bug bites when you live in the woods, which we do.
