Possible for Mets eventhough all 26 lymph nodes negative ?

My sis had mastectomy on left side on June 2012. Her pathology reports stated all her lymph node negative. But her ct scan shows some suspicious area near pancreas and she has a lump in her thyroid. Could it be mets. Doc haven't confirmed anything yet as suggest further check ups to determine whethers it's mets. I am so worried. My sis is 45 years old.

    Hi KGeetha so sorry that your sis is going through all this but welcome to BCO.  Yes it is possible to have mets even though all nodes are clear I'm sorry to say, it can travel through the blood stream.  Did her path report say anything about lympho/vascula invasion?

     I'm hoping for your sis that she is clear and it is something else showing up on her CT.

    It doesn't really matter, I was just curious.  If you read my Diagnosis line at the bottom of my post you will notice that I have mets but no lymph invasion but I did have mentioned on my path report lympho/vascular invasion.

    Those are not typical sites for mets. It is not clear cut as to which cancers will metastacise as it is very individual. The size, grade, stage, hormone and HER2 receptivity all can factor in the prognosis too.



    I hope your sister's cancer is in fact early stage.



    There are likely many treatments that she can have to halt cancer. Some such as chemo can be unpleasant but they are proven to kill cancer.



    Your sister's oncologist will explain everything to her, and she is welcome to come here for a wealth of information and support.

    Hi racy...yes my sis just went for her first chemo on August 8. She is not so well after chemo...i just spoke to her on the phone since she is living in different state. I wish she will recover soon and halt the ca beast!!
