Her2/neu positive or negative...confused

I thought I was Her2 negative, however, today I received report from genetics counselor that reads the following pertaining to the biopsy, "It was ER/PR positive, HER-2/neu positive. It was equivocal and negative by FISH."

I remember the surgeon saying I was borderline, something about ++

Does negative FISH mean I am negative then?

Yes, it means you are negative. There are two tests used for her2. One gives results of +, ++, and +++. So, getting a ++, would mean you are borderline. But, the fish test is supposedly more reliable, so getting a negative on that means that you are negative.
