Hi folks,

When I went out to get the mail, my new Juzo custom silver expert garments were sitting on the step waiting for me. Because I swell during the day, I have a rule that I always try on new garments first thing in the morning. But after 8 months of 24/7 wrapping, they were like a plate of luscious warm brownies tempting me. I finally gave in and tried them. The fit isn't perfect .... The opera length glove is a bit too long, and the axilla-to-finger tip glove is a bit too short (and extremely difficult to get on!). a few of the fingers are a bit tight at the tips (different fingers on the two gloves, even though they are supposed to be identical. But, they are much better than the previous attempts, and I am so excited I can't sleep.

Now to my questions. My therapist ordered dorsal pockets. I've never had them before and my therapist is on vacation and I have a few really basic questions. I assumed that the gloves would come with inserts, but they didn't. What should I put in them? Also, the pocket extends from the dorsum of the hand half way up my forearm. Should the insert be that long (only my dorsum swells)? Lastly, if you have dorsal pockets, do you always use inserts, or just when you are doing heavy activity or is having swelling? Thanks. KS1

I have used a textured wave foam ( avail in 8x10 in sheets from lymphedema products.com) from my dorsum 12 cm. up my forearm to promote drainage. I also have used also rosidal soft foam ( I use those rolls in my bandaging and only cut off what I needed for the dorsum pocket). Each worked - it just depended on what I needed for compression and drainage. I have also used a juxta-fit gauntlet (over the counter standard sizing) over the rosidal soft foam. Since than I have bought Solaris palmar swell spots, but for now have been wrapping over my hand with short stretch bandaging while I wait for my new garments.
