Arimidex + Faslodex for MBC

Options

Good news:   Arimidex+Faslodex gives a 6 month survival advantage for MBC patients.

Bad news:

"Mehta said the results of the Phase 3 trial are particularly exciting because "these patients have not had a new treatment that gave them an overall survival benefit in more than a decade."

This post has more information. The 6 months are overall survival advantage, not that big. The progression free survival advantage for the combo is only 1.5 months.

Also, there are a lot of points about whether the combo offers advantage for patients who had already failed tamoxifen (similar to faslodex). Overall, not earth-shattering. Hormone positive MBC has not seen big improvement in a decade.

in 2010-2011, Faslodex had a dosage change with 500 mg proven to be more beneficial than traditional 250mg.

There's also this study that shows Faslodex 250mg + Arimidex does not offer significant advantage over Arimidex alone:

I'm not sure if this is appropriate for this thread, but I'll just share my experience.

I'm on 500 mg of Faslodex monthly( started weekly, then every two weeks, then monthly.)

    I also take arimidex daily.

I have 2 mets to my spine and activity around my pancreas.

My breast mass was inverting my nipple and became extremely painful.

My breast mass has gone down 2 centimeters, spine mets have receded with new bone growth.

There's less activity around my pancreas. I've been on this regiment for 6 months with no prior treatments.

I am also getting xgeva monthly. I take calcium, magnesium and zinc

    together and vitamin D3.

My bloodwork is good. I have achiness especially the first week after injections.

So, body aches that are intermittent and I believe it makes me feel anxiety intermittently.

That's a tough call because, well, stage 4 breast cancer is obviously stressfull.

I am thrilled with my onc and treatment so far. I've gained 5 pounds. (Bummer)

I also get fatigue, but it also is intermittent.

Kudra, you'll surpass the six-month timeframe, woohooo!! Great to hear that the combo is working. Hang in there.

I found exercise helped with the Femara body aches and fatigue.

Thank you for your response! What kind of exercises are you doing? I have to be mindful of spinal mets.
