Crohns Disease or other Bowel disease w/ chemo

I start A/C on Friday and have Crohns disease also. I have been trying to quite it down although I'm stressed and it makes it harder. I've seen a holistic dr for supplements, I am doing guided meditation groups, taking my standard Meds. I can't find anyone with any experience with these two illnesses simultaneously to provide me any insight/assistance/suggestions. Just though I'd throw it out here and cross my fingers.

juneaubugg-I have ulcerative colitis and it has never been less of a problem then it was during chemo and for an entire year after. I commented to my GI that the best side effect I had from chemo was a regular GI tract. He said that he often hears that from women with IBD who have chemo! I hope that you have the same results and that you find chemo tolerable!

Thanks for that... It makes me much more hopeful. Did your diet remain the same for the most part?

I only had IBS before treatment with a very regular diarrhea issue.  I was on taxotere and cytoxan and I ended up having HORRIBLE constipation from chemo.  I was not prepared for that at all!  I guess just be prepared for anything.  Good luck!  Hugs!

I have severe IBS, and it has completely quieted down during weekly Taxol. I'm grateful as the spasms could be so bad that I rate it equal to labor pain. On the plus side, I didn't need an epidural, as the pain was very familiar.

I'm eating things that should throw the IBS into high gear, loads of fruit, big green salads, CABBAGE.

Crohn's might be a different ballgame, but I'll bet the pre-chemo steroids will keep it from flaring.

My diet has been generally better since I was diagnosed because the first thing I read was "Anticancer: A New Way of Life" by Dr David Servan-Schreiber. So I ate more vegetables, gave up meat and chicken, cut back on dairy and sugar, etc. I maintain that diet today and my GI tract isn't as good as it was on chemo. Many women get constipated on chemo. I didn't have that problem. Things were just perfect!
