How can I get my wig to stay on?

Hi!  I am new to the discussion boards and this is my first post :)  Well I am 25 years old and was diagnosed with Stage IIA invasive ductal carcinoma.  I completed 7 rounds of chemo this year and recently had a bilateral mastectomy.

I lost all of my hair and it is starting to grow back now.  I have a wig that I wear and it was very simple to keep on whenever I was completely bald.  I just used some strong double-stick tape type stuff (like SuperTape and Pro-Flex).  Both tapes work great!  I feel very confident with the wig and tape on.  However, with my hair growing back now, whenever I use the tape and go to take off the wig, I am tearing out some of my newly-grown hair.  I have a little solution spray that my wig stylist provided me with that dissolves the tape and makes it come off easier.  But I am still tearing out some hair and creating little bald patches.

I still want to wear my wig but I don't know how to get it to stay on without tape.  I am too paranoid and scared to just throw it on and go out; I'm afraid that it'll slip, fall off, etc.  Plus I have been seeing someone and I sleep in my wig at night whenever I am with them.  I don't want any slips or mishaps with my hair.  I have tried stretchy wig caps and the gel headband thing, but nothing makes the wig really secure like the tape.  Can you ladies provide any suggestions please?  Thank you :)

Welcome Case. Is your wig adjustable or could you get some advice from the vendor or a wig retailer? If it fits tightly then it should not come off so I am thinking if you get the fit adjusted to suit the size of your head plus growing hair that will help.

    Best wishes to you.
