Elvarex glove with a zipper??

I saw on an elvarex website that you can get a zipper on an elvarex glove. I have had swelling in my hand and arm for 3 years and I've recently had new issues with swelling at the wrist and in my lower forearm. I go to get re-measured and order next Monday and I'm wondering if anyone has had a glove made with a zipper. Does it aggravate your hand LE? My therapist is worried about the zipper being an issue. Can you still get the pocket on the back of the hand for padding with the zipper? I'm thinking if I lightly pad the back of the hand, the zipper won't irritate the skin. When I put on or take off my glove, no matter how careful I am, the bottom stretches out and I lose compression after about a month. I'm also going to lengthen the bottom of my armsleeve, so hopefully that will help add protection and compression. Right now, most days I wrap with a bandage over the back of my hand and up the wrist to cover the loss in compression, but it's hot. Any thoughts from anyone with similar issues?     When I took the CLT course, they had Jobst lecture us. The issue with the zipper is that you loose the compression in the area of the zipper--it's mostly used for people who can't "don" a glove easily.

    My gloves go half way up my forearm, works for me (they're Juzo.)

    Many gloves have less compression at the wrist so as not to have double compression when layered over a sleeve.

    Another thing I learned: Juzo WANTS you to put the glove in the dryer--it wakes up the "memory fibers"--I always hung them dry. I checked the info on the glove and with the fitter, so now I dry them on the  lowest setting.

    Elvarex doesn't want their gloves in the dryer, as the fingers shrink. Not sure if the elvarex soft can be dried. Classic elvarex is made with a latex core.

    So then maybe I would be better off with a longer glove and "roll" it up the hand and over the armsleeve. My current glove is only 4 cm. above the wrist and when it gets loose, it separates from the sleeve. I know I need to lengthen the sleeve again. I'm on my 3 rd go round of ordering elvarex, so I'm getting closer to what works. Except for the wrist problem, this set fit nicely and did what I need it to do.



    Kira, Do you wear a glove and a sleeve or just the glove?



    On another subject, heard anything on the tribute daywear? Are they testing yet??

    Kira, do you know whether juzo recommends that all of their fabrics be machine dried? I have noticed that my juzo soft sleeves and stockings feel fabulous the very first time I wear them. I'm awaiting some custom helastic silver gloves. They were very expensive, and I don't know if I can muster the courage to put them in the dryer... (makes sense that elvarex classic shouldn't be put in a dryer because it contains latex.)



    GottaloveNED, I had a glove that was too short and I found that if I wore the sleeve over the glove (instead of the traditional glove over sleeve), it didn't separate as much. Another thing you might consider is instead of having a separate glove and sleeve, get a glove that is attached to a sleeve. Then you don't have to worry about gaps or double compression at the wrist. KS1

    I only wear the glove, the sleeve on very rare occasions.

    Just looked up care of Juzo garments, including silver, and they ALL can be machine washed and dryed

    Why is it okay to machine wash/dry Juzo compression garments?

    KS, I've thought about it, mainly because then my insurance would count it as 1 garment, not 2. But I'm a teacher and I like to be able to take off the glove if things get gross. Now that I started wearing the cheap white gloves over the elvarex glove, that's helped a lot. Please post how the Juno gloves work for you. While the elvarex works, I'm always on the lookout for something better. Th problem is it takes so long and so many adjustments to get just the right compression and fit, I hate to start over with a new product.
