Concerned
One the LE side, following my recent surgery, there seems to be a water sac that is getting bigger. The LT has seen it, she's the one said water sac. Have a post-op appt Thurs am with PS that I thought of cancelling if the drain hasn't reduced enough to be removed. Now I'm thinking it would be best to be seen.
I will say that despite telling them to NOT use the LE side, there was some needle in my wrist when I woke up for the arterial line. I'm thinking it was used because of the blood clots during surgery that occurred.

Galsal, but all means, be seen. Interesting that you had an arterial line: I've only seen them used in ICU settings.
I'm not getting a good picture of where this water sac is, but I'd definitely have it checked.

Thanks Kira.
I was in the ICU following surgery. This was a Diep that was unsuccessful. My body threw clots each time they connected a flap. Since we'd planned on my being in ICU at first any way, there wasn't a room for me right away.
Left breast, outer quadrant - almost fills my palm when cupped around it.

Galsal, are you seeing the doctor soon? Because it sounds like it needs an evaluation.
So was the DIEP successful this time? It sounds like you've been through quite an ordeal.

Yes, have an appt tomorrow for postop followup. Friend that helps me shower agrees that it's grown half it's size since the drain was removed last Thurs. Last evening while showering, I touched the washcloth with antibacterial soap on the drain wound (did not rub) and there was a blood speck on the cloth. After rinsing off, did it again and the same thing happened. There's no blood showing on the wound nor does it appear to be draining.
Now I'm quite glad there's an appt tomorrow! No, the surgery was not sucessful since no flaps could be done. The tummy tuck portion was performed though so it's still a recovery.

Sounds like a seroma. Does that word ring a bell? Is it in or near your axilla or where a drain was?
-
definitely near where that drain was. don't think it's axilla but not positive since not a medical person.

Thanks for the good words yesterday, folks. It's indeed a seroma. I go back on Tuesday to see how it is and if the final drain can be removed. If it's unchanged or worse, it will be drained.

Galsal,
I just saw this thread. I'm so glad you've seen your doctor and know what was happening. I hope it will resolve by itself so you don't have to have it drained.
I hope you will be feeling better very soon. I think you need to get some more Cheesecake Factory cheesecake to cheer you up!

yes, I do Lee! thanks
