So far i have just been on 4 cyles AC and my melasma (sunspots/age spots on the face) have worsened withnech cycle. I feel sooooo ugly. I have them on both cheeks but were kept under control before bc. Now they are sooo dark after each cyle, just lightening up a bit a few days before the next wave. Will i get this on taxotere, too?

What do you do to deal?

I have it from my last pregnancy.  Ive read you can get it from chemo, and usually it is not permanent.  IF it is there are creams on the market that lighten it.  You might want to wait until after treatment and see a good dermatologist.  Until then, stay out of the sun and use a good sunscreen without parabens.  I use Devita, great products.

Shayne, thanks so much. I will try to look for Devita. They do fade a bit on the third week, but that just gives me a few days of being semi-pretty, lol!

While we are on this vanity thing (couldnt hurt to at least feel presentable despite this awfulness, right?), has anyone of us girls out there had botox injections while on chemo?

By any chance, when the spots lighten up after each treatment, are they lighter than they were before the previous AC?

One of the "hidden" benefits of chemo is the chemotherapy "facial."  Not only does the chemo go after the fast growing chemo cells, but it also affects other fast growing areas like age spots and sun damaged areas.

Several months after my 4 AC, I realized that the chemo had removed spots of sun damage, age spots and 4 skin tags on my face.

Hopefully, this will happen for you also.

So far, after 4 cycles of AC, they just sort of lighten up a bit on the third week, but not as light as they were before chemo.

My MO told me, too, about Taxotere doing wonders to my face, though he didnt specifically say anything about the melasma. Im starting taxotere on tuesday, so hopefully, i that thing with you will happen to me, too! Yay!!!!

Melasma showing signs of lightening a week after first taxotere. If by any chance somebody might stumble upon this thread, would you know if they will stay light for good?
