Results from MRI Confused?

Had an MRI yesterday and received the results today. I am currently scheduled for right breast lumpectomy on Aug 7 after having a needle biopsy done a few weeks ago. Anyway the MRI showed everything is OK on the right side, but found new calcification's on the left side in the lumpectomy bed (Had lumpectomy 2 years ago) these were not there two months ago when I had the Diagnostic mammogram. I am so confused. They want to do an ultrasound now and possible lumpectomy on both breast on the 7th. I want a PBMX but the insurance company has denied it. I am so tired of tests and Doctors! I am also scheduled for a Hysterectomy on August 21st due to an estrogen receptive tumor they have found on my Uterus. Can anyone help me make sense out of any of this? I feel like I am in the twilight zone!

    MRIs & mammograms are different types of screenings. Each test has its benefits and drawbacks and may find something that is not seen on the other test. My cancer did not show up on a mammogram but was found by an MRI. Look in the topics section found in the left hand column and you will find info that tells you what each test does or does not do.  The ultrasound may help clairfy what was found by the MRI.  Since something questionable was found by the MRI, ask your doctor if a biopsy would be helpful.

    When was the PBMX denied by your insurance? Was it before or after your latest test results? Since tests are still being done, it appears that you do not have all of the current information on your situation. Once all your testing is completed and you have discussed the benefits and drawbacks of the available treatment plans with your doctors, I would resubmit your request to your insurance company. 

    So sorry you have so much going on with your health. Take it one step at a time & take the time to evaluate all your options. Take care.

    I agree with mawhinney, your insurance dont have all the information they need to make a proper decision.  Call your patient advocate at the insurance company, your dr's should be able to forward all appropriate results to them for a review. Im so sorry you have to deal with this, how dare an insurance company dictate our treatment! All the best to you, Im new to this too.  keep us posted.
