Interesting. Mostly I have seen it listed as anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant.

The great thing about nutraceuticals is that they attack cancer cells on numerous fronts.  They are not as aggressive as medicine, obviously, but most are not expensive and do have side effects, i.e. green tea.

I don't know if this is a bizarre place to ask this, but I'm going to give it a shot. Have any of you regained menstrual function after chemo? I am 52 and still mentruating, which means there is a lot of estrogen floating around in me. I did poorly on Tamox and Fareston, in fact they both increased my bleeding. I am doing nothing to prevent a recurrence now, which I know isn't a good idea. I exercise daily, am at a healthy weight and watch what I eat, but it's nothing like what I am reading here!!! Thanks for the insight.    Tammy

Comingtoterms, has your onc not suggested an ooph? Even by itself it will protect you, but it will also make it possible for you to try the AIs, which are quite effective it seems.

Momine, my Onc is not in support of an ooph as he feels it will make my plunge into menopause precipitous and I will not handle the plummet well. My gyn suggested it awhile ago. My onc was a huge fan of Fareston and did not support my decision to stop it. I'd like to do an informal poll to see how many women had this experience and how they did in terms of recurrence. Thanks! Tammy

    Hi tammy

I can not offer you advice as one who has been thru this. My surgery for tumor idc er/pr + is next week. My surgeon recommends rads & hormone inhibitors post surgery and i am pretty sure i will opt agaist this programme and treat thru ayurvedic protocols. Perhaps i will change if looking death in the face but i am actually quite healthy other than tumor and the SEs of hormone blockers look worse than the cancer at this time. Perhaps i am innocent of the suffering for some women. I could never see my ovaries as the enemy or wish to remove them.

Much gratitude for this forum. Will read the anti estrogen diet book. Had no idea this was even possible.

Comingtoterms, the sudden menopause is not super-fun, but I have not had too hard a time with it so far. I am on femara as well, so it is worse than just "plain" menopause. I might get a second opinion. The downside, of course, is that due to the ER+ status, if you do have a very hard time with e menopause symptoms, there isn't much you can do about it except wait for it to fade.
