Here we go with the high calcium again!

Options

Hi Ladies,

I have posted on the stage 3 thread and thought I would come over here for a little help. Calcium blood levels are high and I am really concerned. First time it was 10.7 now it is 11.1. Oncologist did a CA 125 test which turned out to be negative for cancer but he still wanted a CAT scan done. PTH levels are in the high normal range so he is sending me to the endocrinologist for further test. If nothing shows there, off I go to the CAT machine. Really worried and would like a little advice before I go on vacation. Anyone else have this problem. All other test are normal.

thanks

I have read about women having this issue many times since joining this site.  And very often, especially with the high PTH levels, it is the Thyroid causing a problem and NOT bone mets. So I hope this is the case with you!  I hope you are able to really enjoy your vacation without worry and that you get a story of this exact diagnosis (a thyroid issue) with similar elevated levels from someone on here.

High calcium can be a result of high supplementation of vitamin D3 also.

i do belive you dont have to worry

as high calcium gets high in advanced cancer or latest stage

and at this stage its not only high calcium but other symptoms as well should be there

so if you dont have any other symptoms you dont have to worry at all

I had a borderline high calcium level and took lots ( 4000 IU of Vitamin D3 ) of vitamin d3 and calcium.  My Onc asked me to stop taking ( i am 42 and newly in surgical menopause) .  When I went and had blood drawn again, my calcium level was back to normal , not even high normal..

So its possible to elevated calcium due to supplementation.
