When I was diagnosed 15 years ago I didn't know anything about Reiki, Polarity, Tapping, and other alternative healing modalities that I am familiar with (and a huge fan of) now. Had I known I think I would have combined these healing processes with the "conventional" methods (chemo and rads) because I believe they would have aided my struggles with side effects both mental and physical.

I don't know if too many of you still post in this forum often but if you do I wonder if anyone else has a similar opinion and if you are currently undergoing chemo/rads and incorporating alternative healing has it made a difference?  I would love to hear from you and its my sincerest hope that wherever you are in your journey you are healing quickly and have lots of love and support..

Hugs- Marianne  p.s. my niece is a holistic masseuse and if any of you go on the surgery forum you will know  I am having Tram Flap surgery this Thurs the 26TH and you can bet shes bringing her hot little hands over to do some serious healing on Aunty before then!  Thanks for listening!

I used Reiki, acupuncture, massage, guided imagery, and meditation during treatment - I think it made a huge difference!  I still do guided imagery and mediatation and want to do the others when I can afford it again.

    Good luck with your TRAM!

My mother used acupuncture during chemo and is convinced it helped her. I am afraid of needles, otherwise I might have tried it.

What I did do was be careful about my diet, making sure I was getting good nutrition. I also made an effort to exercise. The more I read about plain old exercise, the more I think the value of it is often overlooked in favor of more complicated and/or exotic methods.

I also saw a lymphedema therapist weekly all through my treatment. It was to avoid arm swelling, but also because it was peaceful and pleasant and good for my state of mind.
