This certainly explains why I cannot lose weight to save my life..literally.

I was a bmi 19.  Started these anti hormonals and am at 23/24......not obese, but certainly not bmi 19 any longer.

I think I am angrier about the weight gain than the loss of my breasts (most days)!

I'm in the process of losing weight, thanks to my MO's insistence. So far I've lost 50 pounds, and am doing water aerobics, power walking, and riding my bike. She says that this alone has reduced my risk of recurrence by 23%.

I've reduced my BMI from 30 to 26....still have 10 - 15 pounds to lose, but I'm no longer considered "obese".

Now - as long as the Anastrozole I have to start in the Fall does not put the weight back on, I'll be a happy camper!

Maize thank you so much for that article. It is such a good reminder and kick-start to get this weight off

so we dont keep that estrogen in our bodies. I need to keep this article in favourites so I can motivate myself. Thanks again! Lois

The rotten thing is, I have never been overweight (BMI always >20) but still manage to have ridiculously high estrogen levels. What am I supposed to do?

Okay girls this is it, just came back from an amazing dinner out, too much pasta, wine and dessert! Been doing that far too much this summer. I am going to shed the 20 extra pounds that I should not be carrying. I need to take this

seriously and do what is in my power to remain healthy. Wish me well maybe I better report back to this thread once a month to check in. Wishing all you ladies health and happiness. Lois

Wishing you luck with the diet, Lilyn.  The doctor (not MO) told me that it's particularly important to get the fat off the belly area because that is where estrogen stores--in fat cells in the stomach area. That's the part that's most "expanded" on my body.  The doctor said:" You'll be very sorry if you allow yourself to gain weight, do you understand?" (Weight loss...easier said than done.)  That doctor said "exercise every single day."   I force myself to do it.   I really do feel better when I've done exercise, though it's hard to get motivated at first.

Blessings2011, that's an incredible weight loss.  Congratulations!  That takes some strong will-power!

    Kestrelgurl,

Maybe your doctor would know why your estrogen stays high though you are (enviably) thin?  (I'd love to be naturally slender).

    Wallycat,

Hormones can sure pack weight on some of us, can't they?  The cattle ranchers out west used to give the cattle estrogen to "fatten them up".  I don't know if they still do that, but it makes me wonder how much extra estrogen that exposed people to who ate that hormone-fortified beef.

    Belinda977,

Today I read that having too much body fat causes low grade chronic inflammation that can mess up how the immune system functions and that too much body fat makes bad changes in the way our bodies process insulin.
