    Hello Toyoungforthis,

I'm so sorry to hear about your lymph node. I know it's very scary, but I will be here for you if you need me.

I met my radiologist today. I have decided to have a radiation therapy from next month. When my doctor told me about the side effect, I was almost faint :-)

Hanging in there, Toyoungforthis. I will pray for you, too.

    Lots of hugs,

    rorikorei

    Hi Rorikorei,

I had a localized recurrence after my mx and then had radiation therapy.  It wasn't so bad, you can do it!  Lots of lotion helps.

I lived in Japan as a teenager, in Iwakuni.  Our family loved it there.  I am sure you miss your family very much.  I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Thank you for your message, lovetosail. How long did you live in Iwakuni? I was planning to go back to Osaka in September, but it looks like I need to cancel that trip since I decided to have radiation therapy.

Do you know what kind of lotions you used during the treatment? Can I have my daily routine druing the treatment?

Rorikorei,  Can you get emu oil in Japan?  I used that during radiation and it was amazing!

Thank you, sweetbean! Now I live in the States, so I will get some emu oil this weekend.

Thank you again. I will see my doctor for a marking next week. I'm very nervous...

Cool,  I get my emu oil from Rancho San Diego - I have tried a couple of brands and I like this one the best.  I actually still use it and I am a year out from radiation.  After my radiation, my PT and RO were converts - at the end of my treatments, my RO said that I looked like I was finishing up my 2nd week of radiation, not my sixth.

Rorikorei, I lived in Iwakuni for 3.5 years.  It was wonderful!

At my radiation oncologist's suggestion, I used first aloe on my skin, and then followed it with a layer of Aveeno.  I didn't wear a bra during radiation, unless it was over a soft thin tank top, so I had less friction from my clothing.

I did keep up with my regular routine during radiation.  I worked full time, exercised etc.  It was over before I knew it.

I hope you get back to Osaka soon!

Thank you for all the useful information. I really appreciate it. It's always nice to hear a good story about radiation treamtment. I will try to keep my daily routine during my treatment.

BTW my sister loves sailing, too. She has a sailing boat and participates a race from time to time.

I always a applied pure aloe vera to my skin twice daily.  I actually carried small bottle in my purse and applied in dressing room after each  radation treatment.  I am very fair skin and it helped me get through several weeks rad treatments until the very last days when I had mild burn.  I had no other issues during radiation treatments and was able to do normal routine too.  Wishing you as easy time getting your zoomies!!!

I am newly diagnosed so I can't help you with info like all of these other women, but I can tell you that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm sending you a virtual hug.

Thank you, cp418. I have already ordered emu oil on line. Now I would like aloe vera, too :-)

I'm Asian, so my skin is not fair, but I'm very nervous... I have one question to all: Do I need a wig? I forgot to ask my RO last week.

Hello, kylin8. Thank you for your message. I don't know if you are on your treatment now, but I hope it will go as easy as possible.

I really felt your virtual hugSmile!

    Hi Rorikorei,

You won't need a wig for radiation.  The only hair you might lose is armpit hair, and that is a plus, right? :)

I race sailboats too!  Where does your sister live and what kind of boat does she have?  I live in the Los Angeles area and race in a variety of boats, from ~5 to 10 meters long.

Thank you for your message, lovetosail. I won't need a wig, that's good to know. Thank you.

My sister lives in Osaka, but she has a summer house in Wakayama. Her boat is yamaha26s2, 26 footer, which is made in Japan.

I went to see my RO today for a marking, but it has been extended to next week because my scar has not closed yet. I don't want to wait, but I have to relax and deal with it.

I will pray for everyone who have been going through their treatments.

kylin8, I'm doing fine, thank you. Hope your surgery will be over ASAP.  I will see my RO for a marking tomorrow but it seems like it will extend again since my scar has still opend up. My oncologist said it is not healing quickly because of mastectomy... I hope I can start radiation soon.

The messages from everybody gave me a lot of power. I'm glad I found this boardSmile

I went to see my RO this Friday for the second time for a marking. He said the scar is still opened up, and actually it is getting worse. He also said I am not ready for radiation at all. I will go back to my plastic surgeon this week to see what is going on.

Thank you for thinking about me, kylin8Smile
