New lump, I think
Hello! I have been trying to to better at SBE's. I did one last night and found a lump, but since I had an excision 3 weeks ago, though it may me part of that healing. Any of you that has had an excisional with similar experience?
THANKS!

Wow! Horrible typing!(on my part) Anyway, it is kind of long, not round. And opposite direction of my excision. Anyone have anything like this? Suggestions??

akc, the area around my scar was very lumpy and bumpy for about 8 weeks. I wouldn't actually start doing SBE again for a couple of months, it takes a while for your body to absorb all the fluid that builds up after an excisional biopsy/lumpectomy - so things will not be normal for a while. When is your follow-up? you can ask your BS then, when they think you should begin SBE again. For now, I think you should let the area heal. Nothing is going to happen that quickly ...

My follow-up was last Wednesday, the 11th. I didn't notice the lump or crease then. I think I will just wait for my 6 month follow-up and see what they find. All of my masses that were biopsied, were never palpable upon exam.

akc
I had a huge lump after an excisional and it came back as fat necrosis, which then formed into a cyst, which I had drained! It was painful and hard and was visible to the naked eye.
Four months down the line, it has now gone down and certainly eased after having the aspiration.
Likely that it is related to trauma, mine appeared around two weeks after my surgery.
Hope that puts your mind at ease, it is quite common to have trauma to the breast tissue after this procedure.

akc, when I went in for my follow-up my whole breast was still swollen from surgery -- the "lumps" did not really show up until the overall swelling went down. Then the only place that was left swollen was the incision area. After about 4 weeks that went down too (just in time for it to get inflammed again during radiation).
I think the waiting 6 months is a good option -- but if you still feel any pain (other than the twinges that will happen for many months), or the swelling does not go down in the next couple weeks, then I would call you BS ...
Good luck to you.

I was just dxed over a week ago with a new cancer after 13 years, in opposite breast, had a core biopsy that came back positive, now waiting for appt with the surgeon.I was checking the area right side 7 o'clock very low where the core biopsy was done and noticed another lump very close to it, which was not there before, it is almost beside the one that was positive for cancer a week ago. Could yet another cancer just have come up? anybody have this happen.

Anamerty......had a vacuum assisted biopsy 2 weeks ago (14 core needle passes)..... and that area is now firm like a lump or similar to how the excision area feld post surgery.
It may be your body reaction to the biopsy, expecially if they inserted a localization clip/marker.
