Tough day......

Options

Hi.  Am having a rough day. I have treatment #4 of 6 (Taxotere, Herceptin, Carboplatin) next week. My main problem is fatigue these days.  I am still working full time but most days now I just wish I could stay home and sleep, my legs feel like they weigh 100 lbs.!, back pain, stomach pain.  How do you get past days like this?

I just started my chemo,cytoxen/taxotere, did not know I would feel this bad.

Hurt every where, feels like a knot in my stomach all day everyday. Had a melt down today, first time I cried. Had to get fitted for wig and prosthetic, my sister was suppose to go with me she didnot show up. Took it hard. I feel better now after a good cry.

Hang in there.  I'm 4 weeks past my final TCH.  At treatment #4 I wanted to stop.  Had a meltdown in onc's office.  She convinced me to stick with it.  Also found out at #4 I was extremely anemic, the reason for my chronic fatigue.  I can't tell you it will get better, just focus on one treatment at a time and one day at a time.

And....just because people tell you you're brave doesn't mean you have to be.  Cry and then cry some more.  Your body is going through hell right now.  Don't be afraid to ask for meds.

    Hugs and best wishes.

Those of you dealing with TCH, there's a big, busy thread in the Chemotherapy - Before, During and After forum, devoted to Taxotere, Carboplatin and Herceptin where you can connect with many women who are going through just what you are.

So sorry you are feeling bad. Hugs to you. Make sure you talk to your oncologist about your pain and fatigue. They can rx you pain medication and stay on top of your side effects. I wish you the best. I'm almost 4 months out from my last TCH and am really feeling more like my pre chemo self.

Hi,  I'm so sorry to hear about your problems.   Make sure that you're getting enough water and protein to help with the fatigue.  I ended up using the protein versions of  nutrition drinks like Ensure and Boost  helped with the fatgue when I was going through periods when my appetite lagged.  The water helps get the toxins out of your system more quickly after they've done their job.

If you have a nurse navigator or guide available, talk to her, these folks know all sorts of ways to mitigate side effects.  Talk to your treatment team, they have good information too.

All the best, it does get better, but it's a heck of a slog getting there.  *hugs*

I had to be on antibiodics for a week, coughing and congestion!  Just figured out that the stomach pain, etc was probably side effect of the antibiodic since now that I have finished the pains are gone.  I go to the Dr this week prior to my next treatment, hope everything stays on track and that my test results are good.  dgcote: You feeling better?  blessings, megadotz, melly and markat:  thanks for the encouragement!

I'm crying with you sweetie! I'm on chemo #2, first chemo put me in the hospital for 8 days with febrile neutropenia. Some days crying it all out helps, on days that I want to "toughen up", I find music helps! Metallica's " broken, beaten and scarred" has lyrics

Like "what don't kill you, make you more strong!" Good luck and hang in there!

Woke up today to find my hair falling out, did not realize how vain I can be it upset me even knowing it was going to happen. Plus I started back to work today so had all day to think about it I work alone so my head kept wondering didn't get much done. My boss is great she is a survivor also.

Well #4 is behind me sorta . Had nausea enough to have to take the compazine, hate the way it makes me feel. Anyone know how to get it out of your system quick? Would like to go back to work tomorrow but an still unsteady and weak. One day at a time I'm told. Easier said than done.

Dgcote-The day my hair really started thinning I couldn't go to work like that so had my hubby shave it off. (i work in the public.) my coworkers put on scarves and hats to support me throughout the day! I still cried but didn't feel so awful. I was very touched by their love. I pray this type of support for you!
