SUPPLEMENTS BEFORE YOUR CANCER DX
Ladies I have a couple of questions that I would like to ask concerning your life before your dx of bc.........(and I come in Peace.......I think any of us should have the freedom to chose what treatment we want).........
it seems that the people that are drawn to alternative therapy where already living a very clean and alternative lifestyle before cancer...........I am going to assume (I know that is probably not wise) that many of you have been supplementing for much of your adult life.........
with our new health care law it seems that there will be an emphasis to live a more healthy and a preventable lifestyle so we don't get sick in the first place.........
What I am curious about is how many of you felt that you were already doing everything you could to prevent your cancer to begin with and what do you think happen that you ended up with a cancer dx?
I am going to assume (again) that for some of you it was genetic........you may be carrying the BRCA1 or BRCA2positive gene but what about the rest of you..........
do any of you feel that it might be environmental?.....
do any of you wonder what went wrong?..........
I think for us that probably have not lived the healthiest lifestyle it is easy for us to get the message.....I need to clean up my lifestyle and start really making better choices......(put down the Big Macs)
But what about you guys that were already living the healthy lifestyle?......you still got cancer.......did it discourage you?......do you believe that we really can prevent a cancer dx?........

I was not supplementing beyond a multi vitamin before my cancer Dx. I was, however, very sports-minded, and I was fit for my entire adult life UNTIL about 8 months before my Dx. I did not know it, but I was battling a serious gluten problem, and I ended up being VERY malnourished. I was so malnourished that I battled daily exhaustion after the simplest of things. My feet had neuropathy, as I had depleted all my minerals. I had a cloudy brain, and was barely able to function in my day to day life. It was so......gradual that I simply chalked it up to raising 3 small children, working full time, and an active life. I look back and feel frightened that I didn't see signs earlier that something was amiss.
End of the story is that we all need to intuitively listen to our bodies, and NEVER assume that aging should bring extreme fatigue, physical ailments, etc. I know my grandparents lived well into their 90s with little to no physical constraints, so a healthy person will not have those small, seemingly innocent problems in their mid-life.
