anyone want to share a good mastectomy clothing site?
I had a partial mast on right side, so much tissue was taken I need to wear prosthesis at all times. I have been using a local Mastectomy Boutique to purchase prosthesis, bras, swimsuits and tank tops but wow are they expensive. She carries Amoena brand only, everything fits well but $50.00 for a tank? any suggestions ?

I had a Rad, Mod. Mast.
There is one cetified fitter within over 300 miles of here. I got my pros there and my bras. My tanktops and swim suit are OTR (off the rack). I did sew in a pocket on my Takini.
I have lots of OTS (off the shelf) tank tops with no problem.
Wen I first got my pros - they had nothing in the shop that was 'right' for me so several were ordered in. My bra 'tastes' ar not the same as many so they order in several for me to try. I would be very uncomfortable is only one lline was available. I wear different bra sizes in differenth manufacturers. Got to try them - especially at the price. -
One website that I've found helpful over the years, but particularly when I was a newbie to all things post-mastectomy is womanspersonalhealth.com. I spoke to the owner by phone a few times in the beginning and she steered me to products that were well suited to my particular body type (petite, remaining breast A cup). Years later, having tried other things, I still find the products she suggested to be my best fit.

I had a left UMX and have yet to finish treatments. Since I don't know if I'm having rads, I haven't wanted to spend $$$ on the good masectomy under garments. I have found that sports bras with removable inserts a less expensive option for now. I've found the most inexpensive ones at Marshall's, TJMaxx and Ross for less than $15.00 per sports bra. They are pretty comfortable and give me enough support since I'm a small breasted gal. Target in its lingerie dept sells a camisole with a built in bra shelf for $15.00. I also have purchased some yoga tops with removable inserts also at Marshall's and TJMaxx. The TLC catalogue also has under garments and other prostectics which are reasonable. You can also purchase sew in pockets for your bras so you can put a foob in. These are just other options to help save some money. Hope this helps.

Susan, there is really limited stuff available where I live (Greece). There is an amoena dealer, but the shop is way out in the suburbs and the stuff is, as you note, really expensive.
What I do is take a genie bra and sew the front part into a tank. At least with light foobs, fiber for example, this works quite well.

For 27 years I have been buying mastectomy swimsuits. Am a 34 C cup and so the usual easy way of adapting a standard suit just doesn't work. I also live in Greece which means a new swimsuit every other year. I was buying Anita, the chemist in Omonia Square stocks them and mastectomy bras. The swimsuits I could never understand why they made many with V necks, who can wear them, others very wide shoulder straps, high backs, low legs, and not very exciting. Although we have crisis, I don't need any summer clothes, my Daughter treated me last year and so I splashed out on a Jamu swimsuit from Australia. It's beautiful. Super design tankini, thin straps if needed, low back, high legs, and fitted around the top with synthetic elastic which clings to you. No gapes, you can bend and touch your toes, well ankles. So pleased for younger women so many bikinis and it's time as too many badly cut and frumpy. highly recommend.

Liz Claiborne has a few high neck tankinis at JCPenney. They have the removable cups which means there is an opening where you can insert a form. The price is reasonable and you can probably find them online.

Hi Annie, I am in Athens too. Are you Greek? In any event, nice to "meet" you.
