OK, I know its summertime but I'm totally over the heat. I feel like the wicked witch "I'm melting!!"
-
Hey girls, I have been off the radar a while. Glad to hear everyone is moving along with tx and SE not torturing you.
Kelly, what is the name of your DH's band? I know most of the locals ... PM me your and his full names if you want.
I got switched from Arimidex to Tamoxifen. I am tolerating it much better. For me, the Arimidex was almost as bad as being on chemo.
I have begun walking, and it seems to be helping a lot with my leg, ankle and joint pain. I find having good tennis shoes on, and walking on a surface like the track at Monument park or the track at Malone College is better for me.
Max is home from OSU and has decided he is changing to Kent Stark. OSU does not offer a music technology degree (recording) and that is what he wants, so my empty nest only lasted 8 months, and I was sick the whole time, basically. No more running naked with scissors in the house, LOL!
Got a little swimming pool time this weekend, it was very relaxing. Work has been stressful, so unstructured weekends are my favorite. Too much on my schedule, I overdo it, and I pay for 3 days afterwards. i wonder when, if ever, I will get my stamina back.
Yesterday I had my 1 year follow up mammo. They took 5 pictures, then set you outside to make sure they have good films before they let you leave. Well. I sat out there for an hour and a half, and after a while I thought, "oh, this CAN'T be good ... and here the tech just forgot to come out and release me. I was just a basket case. Waiting on the results, wish me luck!
Have a great 4th of July -- hot as balls here in Canton, stay cool!
Debbie

GirlPower,
When I have my mammo's they do diagnostic ones. I know when I leave if there is a problem. The radiologist comes out and talks to me. I'm also a year out and still tire easily. It's 8AM here and my A/C kicked on. Not a good sign!!
-
Sewingnut - thanks for the tip, I will be more assertive about asking for results right away. I had the results sent to all my docs, I will call my MO Friday & see.
-
Looking for Ohio ladies that know of LE therapist in Canton/Akron area.
-
ohio4me - I am in Canton but haven't needed an LE therapist. What oncology group do you go to? I know Aultman has an LE specialist but cannot tell you good or bad.
On a lighter note....we must be neighbors! There is another lady here, GirlPowerDebbie who is from Canton also. I'd love to meet you both some time. This site is great but I'd love to actually meet and talk with someone who has actually been through the same thing. Any interest ladies?
-
I go to Barberton for care. That's where my family doc referred and I really like the docs and the cancer center.
I am in Hartville. Would love to meet.
-
I got my 1 year mammogram results - all clear! WOOT!
-
YAY Debbie! That's awesome news! I go for my first mammo post dx on August 6th...I'm pretty nervous about it.
-
From Cleveland - starting chemo next week
-
Roadwarrior.. Where are you having your treatments? I live in Solon and have all my treatments at Seidman Cancer Center Chagrin Highlands Facility,my surgery was at Case Medical Center downtown.
So sorry that you have to begin this journey, however you will find a wealth of information and SUPPORT from the gals on this board. They helped me so much. If I can help in anyway please email me at eillesp@sbcglobal.net Hugs Eileen
-
Eileen I'll be going to the Clinic Tausig center on Euclid
-
roadwarrior,
Good luck as you start this trip. I'm in Parma but did my treatments in Warren. These girls are great. If you have any questions throw them out there, some one has already been where you are headed.
-
Did anyone drink smoothies during chemo? I heard somewhere it's good for preventing mouth sores but maybe that's a myth...
-
I used Biotene mouth rinse and toothpaste. I got really bad mouth sores after my first treatment. None after I started the Biotene. Used it everyday while on chemo.
-
It just registered with me that today is 1 year plus 2 days since my surgery. And June 10 was the 1 year anniversary of when I got the "it's cancer" phone call.
I guess over the next year, there are going to be a whole lot of little anniversaries. I feel blessed!
Looking forward to a coffee date with 2 of the Ohio sisters this afternoon!
Debbie

Looking forward to it Debbie and Ohio4me!
-
What fun! Coffee with Kelly and Debbie, two Ohio sisters right here in Canton. It felt good to share stories and know the others fully understood - no explanations needed. Nice. I will be looking forward to the next coffee chat.
-
I had a great time with Debbie and Diane! It was such a pleasure to meet 2 of my Ohio sisters. We immediately clicked like we've been old friends. Anyone want to join us for the next get together?
-
Ditto on the "two thumbs up" for our coffee date Tuesday! Would love to see other sisters. We met at the Starbucks at the Strip (off Portage in North Canton).
I get my port out today, yay! I was supposed to get it flushed yesterday, and I called ahead of time to see if I could get it scheduled for removal soon. They got it scheduled for today, so I did not have to get the flush. I am heading over to Mercy in about an hour. Another milestone, yay!
Debbie
-
Debbie - port removal is a definite milestone. Good luck.
-
YAY Debbie! Congratulations on being de-ported!!!
-
'De-ported' - too funny. Monday I get de-boobed! Now I'm cracking up.
-
You guys are too funny
-
Oh my ohio4me I almost forgot! Good luck on your de-boobing Monday. Here's to a speedy recovery!
-
Thank you - we will both be taking a break from work.
-
Yes, but mine will be much more enjoyable! I'll be thinking of you...
-
Had my first AC today, only took 4 needle stabs. The lab messed up and used a vein they shouldn't have...oh well. I feel ok just woozy from Ativan
-
Hi Ohio ladies. Haven't been on this site in a long time!! Didn't really do much of anything while getting chemo but I'm all done! Had my last infusion on Monday and now I begin the wait for radiation.
-
roadwarrior - welcome! I'm sorry to hear your first infusion sucked. I have a port so I didn't have to worry about the needle sticks.....UGH! I hope you have a good weekend with minimal SE's.
ihatemyboobs - good to hear from you! Congratulations on your last chemo!!! YAY!!!! You are one step closer to being done...enjoy!
