Reading labels in the shower, and noticed my shampoos/conditioners are fine - Natures Gate, but the Trader Joes' Body Wash has parabens.  Yesterday found EVERDAY coconut body wash.

 http://www.vitacost.com/everyday-coconut-super-hydrating-body-wash-32-fl-oz?csrc=GPF-PA-187132007104&ci_sku=187132007104&ci_gpa=pla&ci_kw={keyword}

Ive switched to oils for my body.

Wondering what else is in my makeup, moisturizer etc.  Hoping others will share paraben-free body products they love!

This is a good resource for checking on things you may want to purchase, it has a lot of different categories - skin care, makeup, haircare, etc:

I live in the high desert, and my skin is dry anyway.  Since ive switched from lotions to oil, its greatly improved! Tho I cant bring myself to put oil on my face, habit i guess.  Looked up all my face products and they are all paraben free.  V Happy about that.

Im also switching my daughters' (age 11) products as well.  I worry about her facing bc in the future, even tho it was just my sister and I dx with it in a long line of women without BC.  Dont know if that is too paranoid - as she is a pre-adolescent

It's not paranoid Shayne! You and your sister are her very close relatives. I only wish when I was young people had known about parabens etc. Who knows, but I might not be here if I'd had that information and if safe products had been available. Good for you protecting your daughter!

IMHO - many of us probably would not have BC if we had not been exposed to certain products with carcinogens or eaten contaminated foods..........  You are a smarter Mom now for sure!!

Maybe I am paranoid, but could this be a marketing post to get people to go to a website?  I just have been burned before.

No one here is worried about lavender having estrogenic effects?

This has been discussed before but I find it so hard to decide whether to be concerned or not. A lot of 'natural' products contain lavender.

Ive never heard that Racy!  Do you have any links?

Mother - not a marketing ploy - I started this to look for products without parabens for myself and my daughter.  Thats it.

Oh and tried the body wash.....really nice, tho it didnt have much of a coconut smell, but my skin feels great!

Yes, lavender has estrogenic properties. You can Goggle lavender+estrogen and a ton of articles will appear. Consider using goggle to check all your herbs and plants because a lot of them have estrogenic properties.

You will also find SOY in a lot of condtioners and lotions.

I have been using Organix brand shampoo and conditioner.  It is paraben free.  You can get it at Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, etc.  THey have styling products too.  I use Tarte mascara and a lot of organic make up from a local organic make up shop I frequent.  They have their own brand of organic make up.  I use Dr. Hauscka (I don't know the correct spelling!) face moisturizer.  I do use one of the bar soaps from Trader Joes in the shower  that is paraben free and I use their liquid hand soaps in all my bathrooms/kitchen.  They have a new lemon scent one that I like.  For body lotion I use Alba.  For shaving my legs...I use the hair conditioner I mentioned above.  It gives you the smoothest/silkiest legs!  Deodorant - Nature's Gate.  When I found out I was ER/PR+ I threw out just about everything in my bathroom!  I use John Master's Hair spray but I don't use it often.  Hope that helps!  I am trying to avoid lavender when I can.

Hi Shayne:.....I have become soooo anal since BC...that I have gone 100% organic....

Yeah everything from food, of course, to all body creams, makeup, shampoos etc, you get the idea. It is costing me more money, of course, but you can find organic on sale

    If you check your flyers.

Shayne...sorry, something else I do to save money is buy organic coconut oil which I eat, put on my hair as an oil treatment, moisturize my body with it when is is very dry. This cuts down on costs.

Me too!  Ive found out that all my makeup is paraben free (yay)......and switched out my body wash to the one mentioned above.  Also switching out products my daughter uses as well.  All organic produce except for thick skinned fruit like pineapple, etc......  But I was doing that before.   Im trying to stop eating meat, but for now, organic chicken once a week.....but soon will eliminate that as well.  Im glad its summer bc produce is in abundance.  Joining a CSA produce co-op too.....

I find I dont have to slather on these products, so I can make them last longer........and switched from lotions to oil for all over body.....Im quite used to it now....  Read somewhere about lotions, even paraben free, blocking pores etc and not being good for body overall.  Let me know if you want the link.

Just found really good 100% organic deodorants with the funny name of "Pit Putty." I got a few including the sampler and they smell amazing and are guaranteed.

Made by a company called Bubble & Bee. Can't wait to try their other products!

In addition to parabens, try to avoid liquid soap and sunscreens containing triclosan.

For liquid soaps, try castile soap. Dr. Bronner's is good, but it's expensive. But there is a less expensive brand called Dr. Woods which is just as good. Also, castile soap lasts a long time. The consistency is thinner, and it does not suds up - but it cleans germs very well, and there are lots of nice scents.

    Hi everyone,

I just stumbled upon an e-commerce store in San Diego County that has a paraben free category for all the top of the line skin care products.  I wanted to send this your way: https://www.skincareheaven.com/product_list.php?category_name=Paraben_Free_Products

While I did some digging around I noticed that they shipped for free which is always good news.

Question about paraben free products -- I'm assuming they have a shorter shelf life or am I assuming wrong?

    Thanks,

    Hi, T:

Typically, yes - they do have a shorter shelf life because there are no heavy preservatives.Have you ordered anything from the SD site yet?
